Sounds like a great project, Anony! Pleased for you!

Congrats on the good report from the dds, Tillie, w it's a special congrats on the awesome dental insurance!

As to buying clothes, I don't have a lot to start with. I could have easily justified buying the blouse but I felt that if I didn't find a coordinating cardigan, it could end up being another thing I don't wear. I also worried about shopping again. A deal is a deal, and I so want to keep myself at just the necessary paper products and food products. I don't want to make exceptions. If I do make an exception (also known as cheating) I will fess up. It was fairly easy to put down a fall blouse when it is in the 90s here!

It's good to show restraint. I really want to practice seeing things and not buying. You are helping me immensely.

Goodnight from me and my tiny cat, who is sprawled out across the floor.

Hi fellow declutterers!
Tillie, I hope you will be able to get comfortable with your situation? That must be difficult? I'm glad you're getting your teeth improved!
Yea, Tatoulia on getting more bags out!
My stepson has been cleaning and fixing my quad, which I need to mow paths thru the tall weeds!(Tillie, that's my lawn mower!)
I've been struggling to make some decisions while hes here to help?!!
If I knew what I wanted done now it'd be a perfect opportunity!
I have a new phone now, so my 'procrastination devise' is back in full swing!
I wish I had more words of wisdom for my stepson. His wife was cheating on him and he's devistated...
If I had some projects for us to work on, it'd help us both?!! I keep trying to push to getting clear on what I want to do?!!?
The nice cooler weather will be nice for working in!

Good Morning Everyone :)

I Tatoulia :)
WAY TO GO!!!
You are doing FANTASTIC! :D

Once you get stuff organized and the amount of stuff just the way you like it, you can then do what I do to keep all my stuff to a reasonably manageable amount.
New one in, older one out.
I have one drawer for blouses and they are not so tightly crammed in that it is hard to grab the exact one I want.
When I see a blouse that I think I might want to buy I have to think about what I have at home and ask myself, "am I willing to let go of what I already have to add this one?"
I could easily cram 50 to 60 blouses into this drawer but then I would be unhappy with the hard to manage storage and the blouses would get wrinkled and many would never be worn. lol :)

D.D.S. appointment went well. No dental caries, no major work needs doing.
Do have to have some restorations done but no big hurry and I already knew that needed doing.
There is some erosion of some teeth near the gum line that has caused small "pockets" that need to be filled.
Made an appointment for November to have the right side done and will have the left side done at a later date.
Then my teeth will all be in great condition!
Happy Dance :D
I owe it all to regular brushing and flossing every day.
With the insurance I purchased from the dental office for only 93.00 a year, the cost is very do-able and next year I get the senior discount of only paying 62.00 a year. :D
It had been 10 years since I last saw my dentist. LOL

Lawn mowers....
There are at least 6 lawn mowers on the property, but none of them work.
The reason he has for keeping them all is for "parts" to fix lawn mowers.
But none of the parts are the right parts to fix any of these lawn mowers.
So, the grass keeps growing taller in my little garden/lawn area because the last lawn mower died and has now been added to the dead lawn mower graveyard.
Years ago he got rid of my push mower because it was taking up space that he needed to store all his other stuff.

Wednesday! lets all enjoy these last few days of summer. :)

Hi Tillie! I hope it went okay at the dds yesterday. I am desperate for an apt but feel that I can't deal (financially) with the consequences.

Still faithful to my no purchases pledge. Had a blouse inmyhandlast week--I do not have a lot of clothes and I do need to be dressed for work-- but put back.

Am working on getting things in better shape around my apt. I feel better when it's not chaotic.

Wishing everyone a good day today!

Hi Tillie. I am sorry about the state of affairs. A Nintendo fan! Who knew? Pull them out, enjoy them, find some good chill time.

I get it. You're worn out and the futility is...not sure what...but I hear the resignation in your voice and support you 100%.

For me, I've made a big bag of things from linen closet, just waiting to go to Goodwill. Ant have a car this week so will do on weekend. Cleaned toilet. Kept up with dishes and have cleaned kitchen counters. Just took out huge bag of trash and recyclables. Working in bag of " keep or shred" and shredded a lot.

The sweat is pouring off of me. Will take a shower and head into bed soon.

Tillie, the kitties love you and appreciate you for your hard work. (As do I). Oodles, congrats on the hard work--not sure if you were talking work-work or hoard-work.

Roxie, I'm about to pour an orange juice in your honor.

Everyone else, keep up the good work.

Good Morning Everyone

WAY TO GO!
For all your accomplishments/achievements, plan making and general, overall dealings with life.

Last century, way back in the 1990s, when I decluttered inside the house, I packed up all my Nintendo games and stored them away.
There was no more time for me to enjoy playing them while working on keeping my "No Clutter Zones" clear and clean and trying to get some major home repairs done.
Well, I have given up entirely now on him ever decluttering the property, carport, garage or his bedroom or letting me get contractors in to do some very necessary repairs.
I have brought back out my game systems, hooked them up and plan to spend time replaying all my favorites.
It is a great way to "zone out" and ignore the realities of life.
I will continue to maintain my areas though and do all the cat care.
Still planning on also doing my crafts and hobbies and watching stuff on Netflix.
But for now, no longer will I try to get any more areas here decluttered or repaired.
I will still do everything possible to keep the mice, rats, snakes, spiders and scorpions out of the house.
I have quit many times before and this seems to motivate him a tiny little bit to declutter but it never lasts very long.
:)

Hello All:

Sorry have not been on. I worked 98 hrs in 2 weeks. Still getting daughter situated into house. We are taking today off and the plan is to have a focused day tomorrow. Not on any specific task because if you look at the house, any place you pick to clean is working towards the goal. I am completing some laundry and dishes today. Thinking of all of you and hope for a good day today.

Hi all

I survived the carotid artery surgery OK and "rested" in north Carolina a couple weeks. It was the first surgery in 35 yrs. I cannot feel any difference but there should be more blood going to my brain and less chance of a stroke. The scar is not pretty and goes from the tip of my ear to the collar bone beneath my chin and is well healed but still a little tender. I had never heard of this kind of surgery. I am anxious to see how much I will owe. On the 22nd I go back to see if medicine helped circulation in legs. If not I will be looking at a more complicated surgery.

We did manage to get over to the other house last week and get some bags of trash and recycling out and some other stuff organized.

My great grandson is now a first grader. I hope to get over to see him and his sister this weekend and will try to get a chance to read to them.

Tomorrow I have to start paying September bills. I pay them all online and don't know how I ever managed to pay them by check and snail mail.

Seems impossible that it's September!

Thank y'all for posting

True, sometimes nature can be quite cruel.
My hoarder's pharmacy mails his meds to the house.
No having to go pick them up any more. Maybe you could get that too?
Wishing I was close by to bring you proper, nutritious meals. It is too important to your health to neglect.
Would you consider signing up for meals on wheels?
WAY TO GO! keeping up with your banking & bills! :D Ice Tea "Clink"

Anony, you are doing great work! Attagirl!

Tat, you are doing so well keeping to your challenge. I'm sure Tillie will reissue at your request. lol

Waiting for the coffee to get done brewing, thinking of the visual images Tillie gives us. In some ways I think we are sisters under the skin. :) I think the love of nature is a true love, even though I don't love all things about nature.

Still putting off the faxing and getting new checks, but I did pick up medicine yesterday and learned that I can get my document notarized there any time! Also can buy money orders (with cash) there if needed. Yahoo.

Been battling low blood pressure for several days. The coffee helps bounce it back up, as does laying down to rest. I'm also not eating enough but when you are too tired to fix something.... I'm working on it.

Hugs and coffee clinks to all.

Hello Tillie!

Still no new stuff making its way into my house! I can't remember when I accepted the challenge but I'd like to renew for another thirty days.

Yesterday sounds so pleasant at your house, with the kitties out and about. We are having a beautiful day in the East. Yet, I still find myself envious that that are predicting 40s for you! I love crisp air.

Oand of the things I bought during my recent relapse was new percale sheets (the lure of the sale price). I am washing them now, going to put on my bed, and am going to clear out five things from my linen closet.

Good Morning :)

Hi Tatoulia :)

Hello Everybody :)

Yesterday was a busy day for me.
Got up at 5:00am, did stuff around the house, cat stuff, made my bed, tidied up a little...
Then I drove into town and ran some errands and got a few groceries too.
Returned home, let all the cats out to play in the garden while I put the shopping away.
Checked the local weather forecast and discovered a cold front was moving into the area over night.
Had to do some things to prepare for a low of 40 degrees. :/
All this last week temps in the high 90s and now this!
All happening too fast.
But it will probably warm up again in a few days.
The weather has not acted normal here all year.
Hard to know what to do and when to do it. LOL :D
Best I get my butt in gear and start prepping everything for winter, just in case.

Wishing you all a fun and safe Holliday weekend. :)

Hi Tatoulia :)
WAY TO GO!!!
For keeping up with the maintenance! :D

Got an email from Diane yesterday. She is fine but dealing with some of life's stressors.
I sent her our love and (((HUGS))).

Today I will do the usual everyday stuff, as always.
Took down the dining area drapes and will wash & rehang them today. They were dusty and had spider webs along the top, yuck.
Planning a trip to the grocery store for tomorrow so today I am making up a list as I think of things we need.
Also, I am slowly going through my clothing. Some things will not be worth storing over winter and will have to go. Some things need small repairs.
Did my socks already. :D

Good morning, everyone!

I finally vacuumed my bedroom last night. Just need to dust everything and put away some clothes. I use the heat and humidity as an excuse not to do stuff.

I've been doing fairly well keeping up the kitchen since my helpful friend left. The dishes actually take no time.

Okay, plan for the day:

clean bathroom
Clean kitchen
Dust bedroom

Let's see what I can accomplish! Thinking of you all! Coffee clinks, Roxie!

Hoping all your bill paying is going smoothly and without any added frustrations.
We all love hearing from you.
"clink!"

Hi Tatoulia :)
Wonderful to see you, as always. :D

No real plans for today here.
Will just play it by ear.
Have made up a list of things that I want to accomplish in September.
Only eight things.
During the month I will pick and choose something that I feel like tackling until all have been done.
The tasks are not difficult but just things I don't want to forget to do or put off too long and then can't do them because it might be too cold to do the outside ones.
Next Tuesday I have a dental appointment for xrays and an exam to see if I need any work done.
Then on the 12th. I have a wedding to attend.

Anybody have any plans for September?
It's time to start preparing for winter. :(
Spring and Summer never seem to last long enough.

Soon your home will truly be a sanctuary that represents your inner self and provides all your needs physically and spiritually.

Hi Karl :)

Hi Greta :)
Keep up the great work!
Trying different methods until we find what works best for us, since everyone is different.

Yesterday I got all caught up on the urgent type stuff.
Just kept plugging along doing one thing after the other even though my body and mind kept screaming for me to stop.
Today will be easier, I will eat properly and do some more pleasant tasks.
Honestly, yard sales are physically hard.
But they do motivate you to let go, especially if you stick to the rule that ALL unsold items get donated immediately after the sale is over.

September! Lets make it a GREAT month! :D

"Chore Wars" is a (free) site where various household chores are presented as sword-and-sorcery themed adventures, a la Dungeons & Dragons or World of Warcraft. Kind of silly but it can provide a little extra incentive. A few of us have signed up; if anyone else wants to join, click here soon (the invite is expected to expire Tuesday evening).

Hope you are all well. Chipping away and feeling good about it. Sometimes I've loved something enough and it is time to send it on its way. And sometimes I never loved something and it is still time to send it on its way. Going through third and fourth level stuff including old costume jewelry. Still no non food purchases, Tillie! Thank you for helping me in so many ways--your post about what life do I want is reinforcing all the lessons learned here during the worst of the cleanout last year. Much love to Marty and Twinkles and Scooter and the other two cats.

Im collecting junk for my pile to go out tomorrow! YEA!!!
I asked myself, 'What kind of support did i want to hear from a friebd?' I wondered what i would tell myself, knowing myself this well, and my honest answer was, that id likely eventually get my place cleaned and fixed up and wish id just done it sooner, instead of fretting over it so long. That has really been a comfort and a motivator!!!

Good Morning Everyone :)

7:30am and I am drinking tea and looking at the internet.
Have stuff that needs to be done outside this morning.
Water trees and bushes
light up the burn barrel
wash the cat's litter boxes
But it is only 54 degrees out there right now so I will wait till the sun warms it up a little first.
Have fallen behind on household tasks due to being busy with the yard sale and just too exhausted to do anything else around here.
Now it is time to play "catch up".
Slowly but surely things will get done.
The rancher has moved his cattle into the field close to my home and the cows are all mooing.
The covey of Quail in my yard are all chittering.
There are two roosters crowing nearby.
Other than that, it is another quiet day here.
Saturday at the yard sale a runaway horse all saddled up came by, shortly after, the angry rider followed. LOL
Two hawks were hunting in the trees and all the little birds ganged up on then and chased them away, what a loud bird chirping noise that made.

Monday!
A fresh new start on a fresh new week.
Lets all make it a good one! :D

Got some more books off the bookshelves and was able to make enough room to have a few of my treasures on the bookshelves! Also found some glassware that survived the Big Cleanout of 2014 but didn't make the cut this year. So I have another bag ready to go!

Good Morning Everybody :)

Hi Tatoulia :)
Thank you.
WAY TO GO!!!
For sticking to the no shopping except for essentials and the donation bag! :D

One thing that helps me to keep my possessions under control is to figure out what my[/I] priorities are.
What kind of life I want to live now and possibly into the future.
My main priority is to keep things simple, easy for me physically and mentally.
I also want to have beauty and fun in my home.
At my age, I know right now what hobbies or crafts I want to pursue so that keeps the supplies under control.
I know what I want to cook or bake and most important what I no longer want to bother with cooking or baking so this keeps the kitchen cabinets clear of unnecessary dishes and utensils.
I know what clothes I enjoy wearing and do wear so this keeps the wardrobe under control.
Take the time to sit quietly and "Know Thyself".
Try to get past what you used to do and enjoy and find your true passions now.
Get past anything other people have tried to ever pigeon hole you into being.
Try not to be the "Keeper Of The Past", meaning only keep things you honestly treasure/want/use. Don't feel guilty or obligated to keep every gift or inherited thing. Keep the person/memory in your heart.
Become who you truly are because you are a beautiful and wonderful unique individual.

Congratulations on the sale, Tillie! I wish I could have a yard sale to make a little $$. No yard=no sale. There is a block yard sale every year in June nearby. Maybe I'll buy a table next year and see what I can do. I think it's a modest price to get a space there.

Have only purchased food since my promise. I'll keep you posted. Took a bag to goodwill. Will need to get another together. I have too much stuff. And it bothers me. I think of f it as too much. It bothers me to have this much stuff. I need to figure it out.

Hope your weekend has been a good one for you. :D

Hi Tatoulia :)
Hope you enjoyed the day too. :)

Well, the yard sale is over and done with.
We packed up all leftovers, donations now, ready for pick up.
This is a rural area, lots of space between homes, ranches & farms and not a whole lot of people.
So we spent a lot of time visiting and catching up with our neighbors as they came by for the sale.
Had a good amount of people from town stop by too.
The weather was great, the company was good so all in all a pleasant way to spend the weekend.
Made some money and cleared out a lot of items we were done with.
We are tired, sore and dirty now. LOL :D
Time for showers, dinner, ibuprofen and bed.

Have a great Saturday evening/night! ;D

Hello :)

Hi Karl :)
Thank you for that information! :D

Hi Tatoulia :)

Hi CriticalMass :)
YEA!!! WAY TO GO!!! :D

Hi Anonymoniker :)
Wishing you good luck getting your porch all squared away and the pretty table there for you to use. :D

Hi Roxie :)
Wishing you the best of luck straightening out that problem with the checks, "clink" ;)
Have not heard from anybody who has not posted here. :(

Got up this morning and went to the neighbor friends house.
Helped her organize and price all her yard sale stuff.
Then got all my stuff over to her garage, where the sale will take place.
My stuff was already priced and sorted.
We priced stuff real cheap, want people to get a bargain and the stuff is all nice stuff.
As we worked I jotted down things that she was trying to remember to do so she would not forget important stuff, like having easy to prepare food to eat because she will get hungry and be too tired to cook something.
So, everything is now ready to be set out bright and early tomorrow morning at 8:00am. :D
There is this one woman in town who goes to all garage sales and thrift shops all the time.
She has driven by here at least three times this morning trying to see what we have. :)
I feel good about everything I am releasing and will be glad when it is all gone. No regrets. :D
