Hey

Lately some of the sentences were incomplete and then visible and so forth and so on.
Decided to try a new thread to see if that fixes it.

To not offend anybody with Triskaidekaphobia I made this phase 14.

See you soon 😉

Thank you for the loving support. The cleaning man came into my mother's apartment today and apologized profusely. I'm glad that I didn't speak with the maintenance guy who wanted details. So it's over for me. He knows I know and he knows that Sally knows. And I hope it serves as a warning to the presumable uninvolved maintenance man that I'm watching everything.

I so enjoyed your post, SubC. It had a nice rhythm to it and I smiled when you said that not this afternoon for the baby.

Tillie I don't know what we can do about the evaporative cooler, esp since it sounds like it could be repaired. I can't have you sick. I share in your inability to tolerate heat. Is there anything at all that I can do?

Well I have piles of laundry here. I went through my towels and they just aren't clean. The washer wasn't working right for a couple of weeks and i can't use the towels. You may recall that we (yes it was a group project, we all here did it together) cleaned and organized my linen closet. Well I kept only four bath towels which is the perfect number. I only have the one I am using, the others washed up terribly in the broken machine. And I have two sets of sheets needing to be washed. One of the drs upstairs is going to use a service called life without laundry, which picks up and delivers your laundry. She said that the other drs use it and they love it. Their website looks really good. They use cold water and gentle soaps and dry on medium and do other things that I do. They will skip the softener and the dryer sheets so I asked for that. So I have my sheets, towels and pajamas all ready for them. They will pick up tomorrow night between 7PM and 10PM and will return them Saturday night. I'm pretty excited about this. I have thre big bags waiting for them, God only knows what it will cost (it's by weight). I am so excited. Everything feels so filthy ever since I discovered that the washer was busted.

I can wash my unmentionables and my skirts by hand. For years, even in grad school, I washed all of my underthings by hand. I found it very soothing. So I'll go back to that for now.

Okay, garbage out and cat box cleaned. All laundry is in bags waiting to go. I have tomorrow off to take mom to the hospital for an X-ray. I am so excited that they said I could be her companion. The wheelchair van will pick us up at 9 AM so now following around for me right now. I need to shower. I have clean sheets on my bed and I'm glad I have three sets. OH! the point of the towel story is that even with just four bath towels, I absolutely have the right number. And I'm glad I Gabe three sets of sheets. I just pray that when I washed this particular set that the washer was working, it's been a t ough couple of weeks. New one Monday but I think it will be crowded. BF thinks I'll fall in love with the laundry service and yeah, he's probably right, If I can make it work with the budget, the I'll stick with it and only worry about doing my clothes. But let's see what the budget is. I'd love to find a new soothing way to live such as wiping the kitchen counters. But let's see how much all of this weighs and costs.

Hey CM. hey Joan.

I am absolutely fascinated by whether people will be hoarding or purging in the pandemic, I can see it going either way. For me, I've been working really hard to buy soaps that I find comforting. I generally buy all of my bar soaps on Etsy but I've needed extra comfort so I've purchased a lot of Bulgari
Green tea soap and shampoo and conditioner because it is a very soothing scent for me. Reminds me of Japan. I also bought some Caswell & Massey triple milled almond soap. I feel very soothed and calmed by the familiar soaps and so that's what I've been doing. And I use them right up. And I feel better.

Well, dd1 is technically in a city - she's inside the beltway and the city limits, and her neighborhood school is a magnet, but the city is stretched out funny and if you made it rounder she would be in one if the first neighborhoods ejected. Her street is really nice, but you can walk down it one way and hit heavy industry at the end and the other way and hit public housing and store fronts That are empty or pawn shops and payday loans. It's an old neighborhood.

Ds is legally in the city but he's functionally in the suburbs - he has a yard, no public transit, and no sidewalk, but he can easily ride his bike into downtown.

Dd2 is right in it.

I planted squash and pulled weeds. Time to start evaluations.

Congratulations CM and Tillie for your accomplishments today!

I shredded and I got the trash out, cleaned the kitty box, etc.

I need to put the day's dishes in the DW and run it.

I would've loved a decent walk today but just too humid. I did drop off TP and paper towels at mom's. Last night an aide let me up. She pretended she needed help with the groceries. So I got to play with my little sister. I love her. I'm absolutely obsessed with her.

I was very focused at work today and that is a satisfying feeling. I've showered and washed my hair. I'm going to log off my computer and get ready for the night.

Cm I don't understand any of your computer talk but I do understand the frustration.

AC on again tonight.

We got the aquarium, stand, equipment, two bird cages, a dog crate, and misc. to the garage sale location.

I'm making a sign for donations at this time. Enjoying playing graphic designer with cutout letters from the Dollar Tree - old school compared to computer but kind of relaxing and fun. And no worries about a computer freezing up on me at just the worst moment!

This is so great to have you as friends! And trust me, Boston's damage is a mere blip. Other cities are faring much worse.

We know that our neighbors and friends are scared. We worry for our current and former employees and our neighbors and friends because they could be the next George Floyd. And they've always known that, we are now having it sink in deeply and permanently into our consciousness.

I was glad mom wasn't scared.

We will all come out better in the end. It has to be a better world.

My package of three cloth facemasks arrived today.
I washed them in the sink and have them drying on a towel now.
I think I am going to like them better than the bandana or the paper disposable mask.

Good Afternoon Everybody
Just 1pm here now.

Hi Tatoulia
WTG! shredding papers!
Hope the humidity settles down there.
You could send it to California, you don't need it and they do. ;D

I remember Summers in Michigan where I would have to take a bath just to dry off from all the humidity.

Well...
I DID IT!
Few times where I thought I might have made a mistake but just stopped & rested leaning on the cart and concentrated on my breathing.
Got lots of my absolutely must haves and spent 130.00.
Really hurt sitting down to drive home.
Have everything inside, freezer & fridge stuff put away, pantry stuff just placed willie/nillie in the pantry, will get to that later.
Resting on my bed now with Scooter.
Might take a nap.
Will see how I feel tonight and tomorrow morning.
But now me & the cats will eat well.
Got 200 ibuprofen 200mg pills for 1.97 so I'm set for a while.
Also discovered they finally have cotton cloth face masks for sale in the clothing department.
They have special Halloween designed ones too.
Maybe next grocery trip I will buy one of the pretty floral designs.

Quick check in. Was long asleep once the looters hit the Prudential Center and Copley Place (the malls I walked at night pre-COVID. As soon as the National Guard we're going down my street, I went to the back.

All is well. I never even heard the goings-on. Nothing happening on my street. I heard this AM that Lord & Taylor was looted. Now this is personal.

Tillie I know this is a huge undertaking and you'll have to draw on both mental and physical strength. Yes, the cats need their cereal.

Miserably humid here. Really awful. Will shower and run out to get BF's lunch. I'm shredding papers. Cleaners will be here on Wednesday; they just confirmed.

Honestly, I can understand some of the violence.

I support tearing down confederate statues. I think the street fires around the White House are probably making a point.

I would even support burning failing infrastructure - is your school in bad shape because of poor funding? Go ahead, burn it down, the kids aren't using it right now anyway and I hope that we come to our senses and replace it with something good!

Our library is accepting book returns today as well. I'm not sure about due dates.

The crib took an interesting turn. Without asking anyone, mil decided that she and Dh sister and brother should buy it for the baby and had it delivered. Dd was a little stressed out, but it is ok now. We are going to wait until after the shower and buy them things they need. I have no emotional attachment to being able to point to some "significant" item and say "we bought that".

I also wish this was not happening during a pandemic. I was supposed to be at their house with their dog to welcome my grandson home. Now I will be at my house with their dog and I don't know when I will see my grandson not through a glass door.

Good Morning Everybody

Hi Tatoulia
I am relieved.
At least now he knows that others know and he has to watch his step, or else.

YEA! for getting to go up and be with your Mom and little Sister! 😀

WTG! for shopping and finding a good replacement washer!

Thanks for the show recommendation.
Will have to check around for it.

Hi Subclinical
((((HUGS)))) hugs and best wishes for you all at this time!!!!! 😀

AT least she can have her Dh with her.
I heard earlier they weren't allowing anybody in for deliveries and that's so cruel for the Mother.

WAY TO GO!!!!
You have been doing a LOT!

Love that you took a long walk and hope you do that more.

Good luck and have a wonderful time today with your Students.
I'm sure they will all enjoy the game. 😀

OK...
Steven is not hot.
He has a cooler in his bedroom and an even bigger one in the garage.
He never spends time in the house where me & the cats live.

I can not open his bedroom door and allow that cooler to maybe help a little out here because his room stinks to high heaven and he has removed the window screen allowing flies from the neighbor's horses into the room.
Plus Scooter can jump out the window and I wouldn't know he's outside.
Scooter can go outside with me but he tends to get himself into predicaments to be out all alone.

Since last night I have a sick headache and am nauseous.
I don't tolerate the heat.

Got up at 6am this morning and watered the garden and brought in the laundry I hung out at midnight.
That's all folded & put away.
9am and it's a wonderful 73F in here for now.

Good Morning Everyone

Hi CriticalMass
Hoping there is an easy solution to your computer problems.
You are not asking for too much.
A 30-something computer geek could most probably get you all set up with easy work arounds.

Well, I have to do this...
After so long I really need to get to the grocery store.
Took a shower & washed my hair last evening.
Have a very long list all made up.
Just took 2 ibuprofen and am drinking my tea.
I plan to only get the smaller items. I think I will be able to walk through the store and check out and get the stuff into the car.
Biggest/heaviest thing I plan to pick up will be a 16 pound bag of cat food. The cats need their cereal.
My refrigerator/freezer is so empty.
I have one little sad looking lemon and no other fresh produce.
Almost all out of body wash and lotion. Will buy a bottle of ibuprofen too.
So scared my back & legs will seize up, but I will have the cart to hang onto.
Monday morning the store should be relatively empty of people.
Hope to report back later of my success.

Yes, please everyone stay safe.

There is nothing wrong with peaceful protest. There is everything wrong with violence, vengefulness, and looting. With terrorizing and traumatizing people who had nothing to do with the tragedy that happened. Who would most of them wish to help if they could. It's just sickening.

Then there's the endless sad and angry posts on social media. I closed the tab to Facebook finally after I angry-reacted to something from a stranger in my hometown (I removed the angry react emoji a few seconds after I put it there, taking that as a sign that I'm in no state to handle this stuff.)

Thinking of you Tatoulia and hoping you will be protected from danger and also from anxiety. {{{HUGS}}}

Wichita had some protests that were said to be "mostly nonviolent," whatever that means. I said to my roommate that even though we aren't going many places, we should be careful to avoid downtown and other areas that might have activity that could turn in a heartbeat to something ugly.

It probably isn't that bad here, but I strategize out of an overabundance of caution. Taking my van to get the brakes done tomorrow should be safe provided we take a route through residential neighborhood streets. Her dog needs to go to the vet to be up to date on his shots because she's going to board him when she's radioactive. That is even closer to home, so okay.

I have some library books that are finally due tomorrow, after many Covid-19 extensions the library automatically applied. Of the two likely branches I'll probably take them to the one in the 'burbs. Not going to the main library downtown, and the other branch may be fine but I'm not sure.

Other than that, it has been a good day. In answer to the question about the sewer repair, yes, it is done! 🙂 And my brake pads are still under warranty, so that's good. The caliper seems to be stuck though, so dunno what that entails. But I think I'll survive.

I've heard we may all get a 2nd stimulus payment? Since the automotive repairs have made a dent in the first one, if we got another, it'd give me more seed money for a place of my own if I could hang onto it. Not till after roommate's health is okay and the quarantine is over in any case, though. Too early to tell about all that. I'm just glad these past 24 hours ended on a much happier note. Now if the world could just get some better news...

Tatoulia,

You gave to do what is best for your mom, but they are probably trying to make sure these things don't happen again to anyone. At least they are aware and will probably watch this guy more closely.

I'm glad you got a visit. My mom is lonely and I can only face time her. It makes me sad.

Tillie, I am also concerned about you and the heat. I hope Steven gets tired of being hot and fixes the cooler!

CM, good wishes for roommate today.

I did not get as much done as I would like yesterday. Laundry and dishes are still the bane of my existence. But I did a lot.

Ramping up my exercise program - Morning yoga, 1/2 hour on the exercise bike, and our evening trail walk was almost 2 miles. A little sore today. Solution - more yoga!

I pulled weeds, picked the beans and got them in the dehydrator, and I made more ice cream mix.

I am going to pick blackberries again this morning and I'm looking forward to my game this afternoon. So excited to "see" my kids again.

DD's appointment went well. They don't want her to go much over her due date (tomorrow) so they scheduled an induction for Monday, but they don't think she will make it that long. My a Dad is rooting for Saturday because Saturday is his birthday. I am rooting for any time except this afternoon.

Thank you everyone for your support. He took the computer back and had oddly not cashed the check so he gave that back. He must've known he had done something that I would find out about. Mom was very nice and said she couldn't see it. She had it in a bag for him, the way I asked her to. She claims he gave her the check and she tore it up.

I was secretly in touch with one of the women there. She's like a sister to me. She was outraged and upset but understood that mom didn't want to make a fuss. I'll just name the woman Sally. So Sally texted me tonight to say that the maintenance man wanted my phone number. It was the cleaner, not the maintenance man involved in this. And Sally said I can't just give you her number but I'll ask her. And he said, I know you know what's going on and I need to speak with her. And Sally said, I don't know what's going on. Anyway I told her to tell him that I said no.

In the midst of this Sally let me go upstairs to see mom. It was a nice visit although hard for mom to hear me with my mask. Mom wasn't wearing one but we were six feet apart at all times. Cat was very cute. I snuck out and that was that.

Sally definitely wants this to get to the director of the facility. I need this to die down. My mother is too vulnerable there.

Well I found a washer for us. I'm waiting for one final homeowner up agree to it and I'll order it in the AM. He had previously approved but now that I've found the right thing and have an estimate, I think he needs to give me permission.

I haven't made any progress here but I haven't lost any ground.

SubC your husband is a doll. I'm thinking of your daughter. Cm I hope your roommate's scan goes ok. Tillie I am worried about you and the animules. I wish he'd just fix the cooler.

Here's a show I like: what we do in the shadows. It's in FX but I'm able to watch it on Hulu. Just a suggestion. You used to be able to get a 30 day free Hulu but now I think it's only 7 days. Might be worth it to try the seven day trial and watch an episode or two. There's also a movie by the name but I haven't seen it. I adore it and it's really like nothing I'd normally watch.

Well Tatoulia
If you were thinking of going shopping for you & your Mom...

The looters are carrying away everything.
Huge armfuls of clothing and everything else.

I'm so very, very sorry (((HUG)))

But watching the reporters video as they walk along the streets show me a close up view of just how beautiful your city is.

I'm heartbroken for The United States Of America.
I'm crying for us all.

Hello

So hot, can only just sit still with the fans on.
86F inside, 103F outside.

It's 5:30pm-ish

He just got out of bed at 4:30pm.

Have not initiated any conversation with him and he ignores my existence but he keeps slamming doors and stomping around.

The cats are miserable too.

Might be worth it to try the seven day trial and watch an episode or two. There's also a movie by the name but I haven't seen it. I adore it and it's really like nothing I'd normally watch.

Thinking of you Tatoulia and hoping you will be protected from danger and also from anxiety. {{{HUGS}}}
