Happy New Year! Happy new Daily Tally!

I decided that since I said I was sure I could find 500 things to get rid of in my home this year, I would make my goal 600 in 2024, to stretch myself a bit.

Today I donated: 6 items of clothing, threw out an old bowl, and sold a stroller that was in the garage.

2024: 8/600

2023: 1002+ items gone

One address book I have saved for 30 years, into the trash. I looked through... no one in there I want to contact.

It is realllly slow going in my room today, but:

I threw away a bunch of Pez candy from my room, because my grands have enough candy and I don't need it. Counting as one item.

oh it's harder but I am doing it. Gone today:

- a magnetic cheap frame that was on my fridge for years but looks worn and dirty. It was in my bedroom.

- a whole stack of clothing catalogs from my bedroom that I was saving. Counting as one item.

My very large dining room table just left, given away. My son is bringing his in to use, but it will not move with me when I move. So I am one item lighter!

I started a new donation bag from my bedroom. One wooden light switch plate (new), one package of clothing labels, one massager. I am also giving away a ring online. I found it in my car a year ago but none of my friends or kids' friends claimed it.

Lila, you have been doing great!

I stalled.
Also, I bought a Lego set my for class, it came with a free gift of a little Lego set. The little set is not relevant to the class, so I am keeping it because I like it.

I went to a rummage sale yesterday and bought three really nice curtains $1 each. They will need to be hemmed to hang where I plan to use them.

There were more of the same type in other colors and I am actually wishing I had bought them all now, because I love the fabric, but I exercised restraint.

Dd and sil went to the sale on bag day and sil got "the rest of the curtains" for me. Except two are the wrong ones and the two I am still most sorry I didn't buy were gone. I'm still regretting those. Dh picked up curtain rods for me. Plus 8 items. But 4 of the curtains are hung.

Sent six books home with ds, so a net plus 2.

I'll try to work on stuff again next week after my pottery sale.

Little by little it will happen. It really adds up. Over 1000 items last year, out of my house!

Adding: 2 old kitchen towels, still good but very faded and I don't need them. Donated.

I did not buy anything at the pottery sale. But my friend gave me a necklace she made for me - a copy of one she sold at the winter holiday sale.

I like how you put what day of the year it is, SubC. It is good to think about that, for me.

3 hand towels that are thinning/stained, and one metal cake decorating tip, donated. They recycle old fabrics.

WTG SubC.

Yesterday I got rid of an entire moving van's worth of junk, thousands of pounds I am guessing. Let me take a stab at what left, although it was his and I won't count it.

2 mattresses
2 mattress toppers
1 dresser
1 tall cabinet
1 bed frame
1 filing cabinet
1 metal locking cabinet
1 walker
4 hard suitcases and 4 soft suitcases
3 VCRs
a desk
25 boxes of books (maybe average of 2o books in each)
3 boxes of junk mail and papers
25 large rubbermaid totes full of items, like clothing, wires, files of papers, shoes, flashlights, water bottles, bottles of pennies, books of stamps, etc - I would estimate average of 120 items per tote
8 smaller totes of junk, maybe 50 items per tote
about 5 bags of junk like toothbrushes, combs, razors, cups, forks, seed packets, random things. Probably 75 small things per bag.
Loose items like tea pot, thermoses, puzzles, games, shoes, coats, posters, maps, pillows, blankets, cushions - total of about 50.

I am sure I am missing things. But that totals about 4,350 items left my home yesterday!

Not counting in my Daily Tally since it all belonged to ex, but wow. What a weight off!

I hate mice! Good riddance!

Today, into the trash: one large bag of bags. Counting as one item, was saving them but need space.
Also one cute little thing Teen had as a child, which I was saving, but they had a meltdown some time ago and threw a lot of their things. This one had a part break off. I saved it, wanting to find the teeny part and glue it back on, but in reality this is not going to happen and it just makes me sad. So I threw it out.
