THE GRATITUDE LIST

The Gratitude List

Hi All!
Sorry I have been so absent lately, things are just extremely busy for me right now. I have been working with a business coach and he is helping me as a person, not just a businessman. With that being said, I want to share with you one of the exercises he has been having me do daily which I think has helped me a lot deal with the stresses of every day life. Each day for 21 days, I write down 3 things I am grateful for. That's it! Why is this important? We all tend to hold onto the negative things in life, instead of stepping back and appreciating everything that is good in our lives. I encourage you to try this, and remind yourself everything you have in your life that you are grateful for. It can be anything and everything from your health, to friends on this board, a beating heart, a roof over your head, etc. I think you can all find this helpful in reeling in the emotions that can cause us undue stress each day. Make your own list and post it here for the next 21 days. Can you commit to that?

My daily list:
1) God
2) My Family
3) My Health

Lets see yours now 🙂

Today I'm grateful ~

that the oil tank was just refilled

for money to pay for it

for the guy who has to work in the cold to dig thru the snow, uncap the pipe, drag a heavy hose and wait while the tank fills

Thankful today for many things:

1. Mobility especially my knees and back

2. New friends

3. An opportunity to visit my mother

Hope you all have a peaceful day! Federal holiday, I'll try to remember not to check my mail and go to the bank as usual, then I wonder why aren't there any other cars in the bank lot 🙂

Thanks Dave, I am considering many things, tonight got the name of a local guy that friends have used to give advice on what is possible, what would work that I can afford, and what would be a waste of money. I plan to call him tomorrow. I can't figure it out with help. You are very kind to take the time to give me your thoughts.

2 ideas, just for "pump primers" and 2 concerns.

You have mentioned a "hill" out front. Rebuilding, it sounds like you would still have an "access grade" issue. Flooding also. If you have serious flooding issues, would it make sense for new or significantly repaired buildings?

Back in the door to door selling days, in a small town ( or maybe village ) in Indiana, I ran onto a guy who had bought a scrap railroad box car, took it apart for all the wood, and then built a small house from it. I think he had had intermittent haelp from one friend. been too long to remember all the details now, but I remember thinking it was pretty nice for one person if you didn't have a lot of stuff.

I could not shrink down this far, but there are people today building small footprint houses in the 100 to 400 square foot neighborhood. I think you can find information about that online. They do things like go to the Y for showers to make that type of living work, I suspect that is not a useful idea, but ...
(with stick built you could deal with roof pitch and snow load however you wanted)

Just a couple of "outside the trailer" thoughts.

Since I feel like I am not grateful, it is more important than ever to focus on what I am grateful for.
My healthy strong body
Plenty of wood to keep me warm this winter
money to buy patching supplies, and ability to fix leaks
Friend that called me this morning and called me out on not taking actions on goals.
Look at pain as a push to change.
Nature is helping me see where I need to improve my life.
Willing to gather information to make changes here to make life easier.
This group helping me be responsible for my well being
Learning that walls of stuff do not make me safe.
change is possible, trying to believe this today
I do feel better writing what I am grateful for. Helped to read all of your posts to remind me, we can be grateful if we choose to. Thanks to all of you

Cory,

That's so awesome about your client and son, given the rate of relapse. A reunited family . . . you're doing the work of the angels.

Today I'm grateful ~

that I don't have the stress anymore of rigid separation of Dakota's high prey instinct from the smaller animals

that Jack thinks he's a small dog and Gelsey, Ike Tina, Dasha and Reeny think they're big dogs

that Jack has already learned that integrating into the little dog pack means he gets fed last
