What AreYou Doing Today?

Today I tackled the front porch closet. Not done, but it's got 50 years worth of junk in it. Stuff didn't quite fall out upon opening the door, like in the movies, but it was close.
Took 3 boxes of stuff to Goodwill.
Have several piles of trash for garbage day tomorrow, and some I need to sneak into a nearby dumpster. 😉
I also have about 6 boxes worth of papers/magazines for recycling tomorrow.
Oh, and I put 2 small pieces of furniture out front and someone took them. Now I've got two more out front. (Not nice enough to donate) Here's hoping!

Coffe clinks!

WTG Anony! Great job! What a great accomplishment!

I did not accomplish in the home front over the weekend. But I had a good time with family and also got some rest. Am binge watching Mad Men on Netflix. So maybe I did accomplish something!

Am working from home today. Doing laundry and going to do my maintenance items. Will write more later.

Have a great day, everyone! Thank you Tillie for keeping us organized!!!

Hi Tatoulia :)
We posted almost the same time :)
I'm glad you are taking it easy and keeping out of the heat. (((HUGS)))
Happy you had a good visit today! :D

I always have a bag ready to put donations in.
Been doing that for many years and find it really does help to keep things moving in the right direction.

I'm always changing up what method I'll use to get things done around here.
Also do general cleaning in a different way at times just to switch things up and keep me from going insane with the shear tediousness.

Whatever works, whenever. ;D

Hi Anonymoniker :)

Thank Tatoulia for telling me what to do to fix the missing button issue! :D

GREAT!!! that you are doing so good at swimming!
WTG! :D

Marie Kondo's method of gathering up all of one category and dumping it into a heap in the middle of the floor was written for people who do not have any hoarding issues.
Most people just have too much stuff laying around that needs to just be sorted out, not an overabundance of things.
It is very natural that a person who has a whole hoard to sort would totally freak out at the thought.
Take from her book the things you can use and disregard the rest.
I believe that all the things we own should be useful to us or bring us some kind of joy in seeing them nicely displayed.
That we should remove the things that make us cringe, feel bad, lower our self esteem or any other kind of negative emotion.

Got all the cats outside for a few minutes this morning but they soon came back in because the heat was getting oppressive.
Will toss them all out again about sundown and have them help me wash out their litter boxes. ;)

Thanks Tillie! Hello Anony!

I haven't read any books on this. I think that each of us takes what we can from suggestions and modify as needed. my initial clean out started with books because I needed the shelf space for my mother's China, which was necessitated by my need to get rid of my storage space. Now that I have pared down my collection considerably, I look to gather trash and recyclables first, and I try to keep a bag of donations together. Some days, I put on some dancing music and putter. Other says I have something specific in mind. I take sll the suggestions here and see which one at that particular moment will get me moving.

Tillie, I am having trouble in this heat too. Just took my second shower for the day. And I put in pjs, in an attempt to tell the world, I'm in for the day.

Had a nice time with mom today. Now I'm cooking my late lunch/early dinner.

YEA!!! THANK YOU, TILLIE!!! You are so awesome!!! You are like a Fairy Godmother!
I crack up at you & your kitties dancing! My kitties sleep in the daytime in the summer & are active at night, so i miss them this time of year...except for my sunset wine walk, when were all awake?!
I went to the pool again yesterday..wow..it is total Heaven! Plus, ive gotten my side stroke down so well, i actually think i could win a race with non-senior citizens...ha ha
Ive read several things on that famous book and method by Marie Kondo and it is the exact opposite of what im doing. I get really confused when i read her suggestions. The one thing i do like is the question if it sparks joy or not. Just the idea of pulling out everything of a kind at once into one big pile, makes me border a panic attack! Does anyone else have that same response? I know its a super popular book & has helped a lot of people, but quite a few of the suggestions are very unsettling for me.

Good Morning Everybody :)

Hope this fixes the missing button problem. :D

Nothing much happening around here today.
All this laying low & taking it easy to beat the heat is making me fat from lack of exercise.
The cats are getting pudgy too.
We all need to put on the music and dance more. ;D
