Hello , My mother is a hoarder I didn't know until I saw the program on T.V. I have decided to go over this summer and clean her house without her consent. Things are extremely bad in her house. Trash everywhere...this is the first time I speak about this besides my siblings. We are thinking of having someone perhaps once a week to maintain the house. Are we doing the right thing by forcing our way in? I'm scare for her health and other issues. | |

I understand you have the best of intentions, but I'd softly caution you not to approach her in that way. Most hoarders would totally freak out and, if not involved in the whole thing, will re-hoard very quickly. It's a psychological thing. Check around on this board and do a little reading for ideas on how to approach this and do it without World War III. 🙂 Come to the daily posting board and other folks will have some ideas. | |
