Vacuum!
Vacuum the mattress, box spring and couch.
Get into all the little hard to reach areas to remove any roaches or their eggs.
Vacuum the floors, especially along the walls.
Professional exterminators will often use a vacuum to suck up as many roaches as they can.
The less clutter there is around the house will make it easier to get rid of the bugs.
Gather up all trash and garbage and get that out and make sure that the garbage is taken out every day. Roaches are attracted to the food in the trash.
Also, keeping the kitchen clean, dishes washed and floor swept and food put away where the roaches can't get to it is important.
