Hi!
For as long as I can remember my mother has been a hoarder. My husband of ten years has never been to her house. I finally at age 47 have started to clean it out by myself with her. I started yesterday and did one section of one room. It was emotional for me and scary that it might actually not happen. I did complete my goal for the day.
My goal is to do one area once a week. Is this the way to go or should I hire a hoarding company? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Cory should respond soon, and he certainly has more experience, but, in the meantime, I'll throw in my 2 cents.

I would think that as long as progress is being made, and your mother is not resisting and making it an emotional nightmare, and it is not impinging on your time too much, it might be best not to rock the boat - just keep going.

If your mother needs help to reinforce changing her habits, you might want to find a hoarding expert.
