Hello My mom and my brother have always had a hoarding problem. My brother has always lived with mom and he has always started little piles of junk that friends and strangers give him. I've even seen him looking through the trash cans at a car wash and at pizza hut looking for useless items. Mom has also been a hoarder but she was a little more organized with her stuff until now. She is now 84 yrs old and has trouble walking. So now the house is completely full of items and trash etc to where they can't walk around properly. The kitchen is full of leftover food and dirty dishes. The fridge is full of the old food. There are even roaches in the fridge. They have small roaches and lately, I've seen mice running around like they own the place. For the past year or so mom does not try to bathe or even comb her hair. I have 3 other siblings and we just don't know what to do without breaking her heart ( and putting her in a nursing home is not an option) How can we help them? Any advice from anyone who has been through this would help please
