Don't move in until he has his hording under control. Move in with family or friends, but not him. He must resolve his issues first before you move forward.

Hi!
I hope you guys can offer me some help and advice... I have read the books, I am a huge fan of Dr. Frost, and I understand I need my hoarder boyfriend (who by the way is INCREDIBLY neat because he has OCD and tortures me daily about my living a ring on a table, or any other stuff like that which for me is small, but for him is huge).

I have been paying 2 rents for about one year because my partner cannot move at all his stuff. He attacked the issue for a bit, got all the books, read all the literature, and promised to get rid of a bag a day. That lasted about 3 days. Then he cleared some boxes that I took out of some shelves, and that again took 6 days. I do not have the possibility of investing all this time in the hoarding issue, and I am working very diligently myself in a 12 steps program to nurture my loving detachment, etc. I am working REALLY hard on myself, and not nagging, etc.

However, things came to a tipping point because in only 3 days i need to move out of the apartment i was renting. I lost my job, and things are not sustainable anymore! I have a business and I rent a kitchen there, so that helped... some stuff got moved there but that will change too..

His idea of solving this is: bring EVERYTHING you own, we will put it in the living room, and on the deck, and we will sort it later, we will find space, and you moved in. That's it. I know he will NEVER move his things enough for my stuff to fit, so what I am looking at is an impossible hoarding situation. I do not know what to do.. On one hand, I need to accept that my stuff has to come here (here: a ONE BEDROOM TINY APARTMENT DOWNTOWN from which he will not be able to move at all. I do not see that ever happening).

I am so confused and desperate... I waited because it seemed the right thing and now I do not know what to do. At this moment, my getting my own place is not possible.

And i do not have enough stuff to justify paying for a storage container .My partner due to his issues is on disability and does not work at all. So money is very very tight.

Can anyone help me sort this out? I am overwhelmed and do not see clearly!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Maria
