A great book for you to read is "Digging Out". "Helping your loved one manage clutter, hoarding and compulsive acquiring." "Manageable steps for helping your loved one make gradual and lasting changes."

I just found out this week that my brother is a hoarder. I have one sister and she and I don't even know how to begin helping him. He is a divorced man in his late 50's living alone. He hasn't allowed anyone in his home for 16 years. My sister paid a visit to the home and was overwhelmed with what she found. Our brother does not know that we know about this. He is not using any of his appliances and has no running water. We are very worried about him and don't even know how to approach him about this. He doesn't shop and store things up he just doesn't throw away any of his paper and plastics items from his work. Much cardboard and papers stacked up. Any tips?
