I don't know if I am doing this right. This is my first time on the site. I have the SAME problem as Cathy! I have no attachment to the stuff, I just don't want to get up and work on cleaning it up. I thought maybe it started when I started taking Paxil about ten years ago, because I was never like that for the first 40 years of my life. It makes no sense!

Thanks for the reply, releasing! I am on Effexor and Provigil....the Provigil is supposed to help organize my thoughts...but I dunno if it is
It feels like I am "paralyzed" I don't understand it, I can workout every day but Ican't seem to throw garbage away

Have you always been this way? Or when did it start?
Some medications can have the effect of making it really difficult to translate thoughts/intentions into action. Can this be ruled out?
And, just to cover basics, is your diet reasonably balanced - some veggies and fruits, omega-3s?

Forgot to add that I did have a "crime scene" clean up crew come last year to throw garbage out...thought starting with a "clean slate" would motivate me to change....clearly it hasn't it is only a matter of time before county officials show up again...and even THAT doesn't get me off the couch....what the heck is wrong with me and who lives like this!

I have difficulty throwing out garbage(well actually I have difficulty getting the garbage even into the garbage bag) I have almost been evicted once because of this and even had the county officer take pictures of the mess...I managed to clean it up at that time....but it always returns to its original state. Unlike the description of hoarding(as I understand it) I have absolutely NO emotional attachment to the garbage and would have zero problem having it thrown out...I just can't seem to do it...it is a huge source of stress
