I have been unable to fix myself and my husband is ready to leave me because of it. I remember as a child my bedroom had so much stuff on the floor and every where that I had to walk over all of it. Now as an adult my bedroom is that way also and the rest of the house is horrible and I need to fix it but I cant every time I try to clean up it just goes back to a complete mess. I have four children and they are following in my footsteps and I dont want that for them. I am considering moving out and leaving them with their dad just so they dont see how I live. I cant stand to think of not having my kids near me but I also cant stand to think of them growing up like me. Please help me. Thanks Janean | |

I feel for you and your situation! I have raised most of my chldren by this point, and have been helping one to overcome hoarding. But I feel responsible for her learning that behavior, and one look at my home...well you know. My kitchen table is stacked with stuff, there are papers on my bedroom floor that need sorted. A quick look arround the first floor of my home and there are only 2 horizontal surfaces without clutter of some sort on them. *sighs* My 18 yr old son still lives at home, and has similar issues. It seems we 'enable' each other if that makes sense. I can't count the discussions him and I have had over the " but your stuff" back and forth...that have gone nowhere. Both of us have valid points, though. For me, one of us moving out would not really help. But if we can work as a team on the same side vs the clutter/messies we stand a chance of beating it. The only way I will be able to see my one daughter is to get this done and keep it done over time. Guess what I am saying/asking is, wouldn't it be nice if your children could see you making the change and taking action? That could be your motivation factor....Idk, I am new here. Jan | |
