I'm the wife of a hoarder (sweet man). I think he kind of knows he has a problem, but wont seek help. Its so illogical I don't have patience for it. I feel like I'd be more understanding if he got help- but he doesn't. I think hes depressed too, he's extremely negative and this has gone on for years. I'm tired of having to fight for a normal existence.
Honestly - I put up with none of it in the house. I can't clean if its all junked up. I just pick up his piles and tell him that he can't leave them there. He has to put them away - or I will. He doesn't want me deciding what to keep and throw away so he moves his piles and puts them away. (He has a whole room for that).
Our problem is the garage (and moving out to the driveway). Before a snowstorm last year I put my foot down that he had to make room for my car. He did. But hes piled it up so much since then that I have to let people in and out before I pull in the garage. Every day, recently, hes got more and more stuff in the driveway.Tires, a file cabinet, hoses and other stuff. Its embarrassing.
He's one of those people that's always stressed out and busy but "cant get anything done". And really? Its easy. Just stick with it until its done. I'm so annoyed.
I realize I'm not the only one going through this. So any help will be appreciated.
