Hi, I am new here. I am a hoarder who is in active "clearing" mode... very little support here (combo of being embarrassed, difficulty accepting help, and having " help"offered in a way that is abusive or damaging and actually sets me back...) I am looking for other recovering hoarders who are in a similar stage. I definitely can't deal with topics where family members of hoarders are looking for support And are venting their frustrations. I totally get that they need to do that but that's just not helpful to me at this stage. Any suggestions? Is there such a board here? Thanks for any ideas, | |

Hi Charlie, I'm a hoarder, a grandmother, and a teacher Is there an adult in your life you can talk to in person about this? A lot of hoarding behaviors come from executive function (decision making) issues and overly emotional attachment responses. Both of those are things that you can work on, but especially at your age it helps a lot to have an in person support who won't judge you. Maybe you have a good counselor at school you could talk to? I'm betting that this affects your organization and preparation for school as well. | |

I think I'm a hoarder and I don't know what to do. I'm still in HS and it's just so hard. My mom wants me to clean up before school and I want to as well but every time I start I am just so overwhelmed with so many emotions that I have to stop and control myself so I don't start yelling at people and then get in trouble. | |

Hi Messy Me, Most of the action is in "what did you do today" in the daily chat.. we're currently a pretty small group with a bad habit of going straight there. Sometimes we get overwhelmed and forget to check the rest of the board for a while, but if you post there we absolutely will support you! | |
