My husband has inherited a lot of hoarding tendencies from his parents, and for most of the years of our marriage I have been an enabler. We are now in what will likely be our retirement home. I am faced with two storage units and two attics crammed full of what I call "mish-mash boxes", which are large moving boxes and Rubbermaid tubs full off mixed papers, books, wires, keepsakes, broken electronics, hardware, etc. My best estimate is that we have about 40-50 of these boxes. My husband is too overwhelmed by them to touch them. I am afraid to pitch them, because when I have gone through some in the past, they have contained things like passports, birth certificates, grandfather's watch, etc., even though 90% of the stuff is just trash. It has taken me entire days to get through just one box. Does anyone have a suggestion for how I can get through all of this more quickly? Right now I feel like I'll die before it gets done.

Hi 🙂
Sounds like one heck of a task to do all alone.
Is there anybody who could sit there with you as you go through the boxes?
Having someone who's judgment you trust could help you sort out a box faster.
Good luck and best wishes with this project. 🙂
