These posts are all so inspiring. Really love the "SUCCESS" post... was feeling like I just couldn't kick start myself back into gear after a few life let downs and this, as always, has helped so much.

I'm new here. Today I tackled a section of our garage, to prepare for that yard sale I've wanted to have for the last 6 years! I had a friend call & we ended up talking about my stationary bicycle. She was wondering if I used it, & said that she might want to borrow it or even buy it. I told her she was welcome to it, but it was buried in our garage. She decided to come help me get to it, which was a big shock to her & even to myself! The garage was packed to the ceiling almost! I hadn't seen it in a long time & had no idea how bad it had gotten! I would go buy something & it would disappear. So I'd go buy it again, same thing! My DH was taking everything out to the garage, & slinging it in with no order or forethought! I didn't put it together--just thought I was forgetting where I put things. Anyway, we decided to begin taking stuff out of the garage & put in sections to sale, to give back to my daughter, or to keep. We made a huge dent in things as we worked from about 4p to 9p on this beautiful fall evening! Yay!!!!! DH even helped us!!!! It's a great start!

Thank you Hoard_no_more! Very inspirational! I followed Flylady for years but I've needed the interaction with others & the shame of this situation has prevented it. I reached out on CL looking to try to find others in the same situation but no luck.
Please help me do this. I know I can do it if there is others who truly understand how I feel that I can communicate with. I need the accountability. The cheering section for accomplishments.
I've hit my bottom & am ready to seek help.
I'm a 3rd generation pack rat with the fear of creating a 4th. I've never been taught purging or letting go of things. Its a new month. I'm a new me if I have friends that truly understand.
Please join me in my journey....
Its-Trust God & Clean House!

Success is not completing THE project.
Success is measured in small steps.
Success is finding the bedroom floor.
Success is having clean blankets and making the bed each day.
Success is having a clean fork for your son to eat with.
Success is having three boxes of books to sell to a friend who owns a business selling books on ebay.
Success is throwing away two couches, four trash cans full of stuff, three other 55 gallon bags of trash, a broken shelving unit, part of a broken kitchen table, and some random weeds from the garden.
My success today will be different than my success last week. Sometimes success is breathing and not making things worse.
Sometimes success is watching TV instead of going to the thrift store.
Success is picking up a piece of trash on the way from the livingroom to the kitchen. Just one piece.
I could measure success by getting a job, having a CLEAN house, brushing my pets every day, by dusting regularly, by never having dirty dishes or clothing, by getting my hair cut, BUT I'll take my successes where I can, and I have found that for today they are enough.

Hoard_No_More, I sincerely admire your dedication, attitude and organizational skills, something I lack which has gotten me into this trouble. How is the progress going? I've tried the box thing too, but can't seem to keep it up.
Suffering from depression makes everything so difficult.

I really like to add this topic to our message boards for one reason...to help others see that it IS possible. I encourage anyone that has had success cleaning, even if it is only one table, one room, or something small. Encouraging others when you have been through it yourself is sometimes better than months of therapy. You know first hand that someone that has struggled with the same issue is much more accepted than the words of an "outsider". Help us spread the strength to move forward :)
