I have a very good friend who is diabetic and faces the possibility of having his left leg amputated. He has been hoarding for years - everything from clothes, shoes, books, CDs, DVDs, sets of golf clubs, anjd food. My husband and I are helping get ride of some of it, but it's a herculean project that will take many monthss. I am hoping that his situation can be showcased on a hoarding television show that will assist him in getting rid of the clutter.
He has already had a toe amputated and is now facing losing his leg. If that happens, he will be in a wheelchair for some time, and the house is so cluttered with his stuff, he won't be able to get to the bathroom or his bedroom much less be able to maneuver about in the living room, dinette, or kitchen.
Hisa wife is so discouraged and overwhelmed, she doesn't know where to start or what to do. That's why we got involved, and even we were overwhelmed. And, as I'm sure you are aware, his house hasn't been cleaned in over 10 years. If he will require home health, the house will probably be condemned as uninhabitable until cleaned up. It's a 15 year-old brick home with 43 bedrooms, 3 baths, and approximately 1800 sq ft. Can someone help me figure out to get help for him? He's retired and has limited income, hence the possibility of a TV show.
