Hi, tj. It is very good of you to be concerned for your friend. However, if she is a hoarder it can be a very delicate situation to deal with. For one, if you can manage a clear out and clean up, she just might have a melt down over it. Hoarders can be very upset by anyone touching their things.
Do you have permission from her to help in any way? If not, you may not be able to do much of anything. If you do, really listen to any limits she puts on you.
If you can't get permission, then one thing you can do is go in and just pick up trash (real trash, not "her treasures") and dispose of it.
If she's got stuff stacked way high, then widen "goat trails" so she can get through. Check for any fire hazards such as blocked exits, blocked electrical outlets, paper or combustibles near anything like a fireplace or water heater, etc. Get some fire and carbon dioxide detectors put in (I think they just stick up on the ceiling).
Hope this helps. Write back!
