My father passed away the end of July, I have inherited several properties of his. Just when I though I had everything under control. (Collecting rent. paying property taxes, ect). I get two letters in one week about up coming inspections.
One house that my father has been selling on contract to a woman who has known her fair share of hard times, has been targeted because of the excessive amount of stuff in the yard. (Campers, construction debris, lawn mowers, even kitchen sinks).
My Dad has been sick for a long time, and I'm sure that he never even drove by because she is only $1000 away from owning the house outright and I think he felt that she was taking care of things. I don't think he had any idea that she is now a hoarder.
Well, the situation is that if she doesn't clean up her property, she could be evicted, and or fined. I don't want to do that to her, but I might be left without a choice if they come after me as the new landlord.
From the pictures, there is no possible way that she can get this stuff cleared out in time for the inspection. I also have a feeling that there are families living in the two campers that are there, as there are children's bicycles, and even a stroller outside the campers. The campers have electric cords going to them and air conditioners attached. So this is not one person who will be displaced, but families.
Is there any resources that are available to help this woman clear her yard? I'm not even sure who to call to do this kind of work. My husband and I both work full time jobs and could really use a hand...or a village of hands.
Any suggestions or referrals would be wonderful.
