Icod have written this with the following modifications. I am 58. Bought a two bedroom th two years ago. Used to be neat organized and proud oxf my home. I havent moved in things are pretty much the same as a month after movin date. I have driven myself mad trying to keep secret life. Going to extemes not only so no one sees mess but now Im embarrassed to be scene at all for appearing like an anti- social hermit.
The shame is distroying me. I dont have as much a problem. With hanging on to things as I do with overwmed by the simplist decision, I paid professionals last te and it was delightful. On SS income mow I must learn how to manage my environment. I think startong aith getting realistic about PROJECTS. It really is the inventive part that I enjoy so perhaps tossing expensive sewing and fine arts with awareness that I might do what I think and plan. How doesone decide what to keep? Is it okay to keep something you use only rarely?

I'm on disability and just make ends meet. I have a friend helping me with budgeting (brand-new concept for a 49-year old). I have ADD/OCD/PTSD and anxiety etc.

Recently moved from a 3 BR w/basement to a 1BR apt. Have storage unit, want to get rid of the stuff, am making slow progress.

Fear if my landlord sees how much stuff is in apt. it could be bad. Also dread when the "bug man" comes for routine maintenance of our building.

I see the neighbors' living rooms, how cozy they look with just the furniture. I am a creative person and have lots of books and art, sewing, etc. supplies. I think I can neaten up some of that and if necessary let go of more books.

It's just that even not working outside the home and all, it's still hard to manage my time and get further along on the settling in (been in this place since last November!). And I'm a klutz, too - can have stuff sorted then trip or bump into it and there goes all my hard work.

Also I'm like many others - ambivalent - want someone to help, but embarrassed and awkward about actually having them come inside.
