Hi there,
For the last 20 years, my father has had his girlfriend living with him at our childhood home, but 3 weeks ago, he died.
My sisters and I cannot afford to not sell the house. We need the money to pay my dads bills, but his girlfriend was living with him, and she is a hoarder, and she will not let us into the house.
We know that she has no legal rights to stay, but we are trying to be sensitive.
I'm not sure if we can even afford to higher someone to help her, but we cannot just let her live there for ever. My late mother and father's stuff is buried under all of hers, and all we really want to do is get what belonged to them, and is valuable or sentimental to us out of the house.
If she wants to buy the house after that, we will let her, but as of now, she won't even let us in.
In the meantime, we are paying all the bills on the house, and we are broke, and were barely able to pay for my dad's funeral.
Any ideas, or resources know in the Quad City area?
Need suggestions.
