Don't hand your power and money away so quickly, please! Wouldn't you rather choose the people you work with and be able to train them, to hire and fire them? Wouldn't you rather make the lion's share of the money? Consider starting your own business and hiring them. Have an ounce of courage and give it a try, at least investigate the possibility. Your own business isn't nearly as daunting as it sounds because tons of info and support is available - most of it absolutely free. Yep. Free. Many areas have "start-up incubator" foundations or organizations(call your chamber of commerce)that charge nothing. There are many local business networking groups to join (again, free) so you can learn from their speakers about all kinds of things, like how to promote your business without paying a dime for advertising. You can also meet others in the same boat and mutually support each other in learning - friendship and cutting your learning curve in half! Tell her the advice you read about simplicity of account management and record-keeping by getting Quickbooks Pro and having it installed by an accountant (so it is set up to do what you need). There are also many networking groups - especially businesswomen networking groups who especially want to teach and mentor young women starting businesses. As if that weren't enough, there is a group of retired successful businesspeople nationwide who advise and mentor adults so they can go into business for themselves (again, the group offers its services free). Most local community colleges teach classes on how to run a business. And don't forget books, the used ones on Amazon are dirt cheap. Or use the library; check out reader reviews on Amazon to learn which ones are genuinely worth reading, then click over to your library system's web catalog and get that book sent to your nearest library and held for you. Why not at least try? If you don't enjoy all that control and money, you can always decide later to take orders from other people and work for chump change.
