On this same website (on the multi-colored map) there are resources you can call that specialize in therapy and clean-ups. If there are no resources close enough to where you are, call Cory Chalmers at Steri-Clean (contact info also on this website, they own this site) and he can help to locate local resources, as well as help you on how to approach this. If not done right, a well meant intervention can send a hoarder into serious depression, further hoarding and even more extreme behaviors. Also, there is often underlying medical issues that complicate the issue. If you friend isn't already seeking medical attention for things like chronic pain, encourage her to do so. If she has children, spouse, etc. volunteer to take care of her children, have dinner brought to the family...anything to let her feel that she can break away to take care of herself.

Hi,
I (we) live in Seattle and am looking for someone who can do an intervention on my friend who is an extreme hoarder. I'm sure this is the only way she will respond. She knows she is a hoarder but can not stop the insanity of it. I realize the only way for this illness to get under control is if she gets treatment, I am also looking for someone to help her in that regard but she will not seek treatment on her own which is why I am looking for an intervention as well as someone to come in a clean up, money is not an issue here. Any ideas? I am very concerned for her health and happiness.
Thank you.
