Tink- The best thing for you to do is to get into therapy. There can be a genetic component or there can be some learned behaviors, but typically there are some cognitive issues that result in hoarding behaviors. By seeking out a specialized therapist, you can be evaluated for comorbid disorders and get to the root cause of your saving, hoarding and acquiring. The earlier you seek treatment, the better off you will be. You can recover from hoarding.
