Hello,
I need some advice for my situation. I am a hoarder, and am living in a relative's house. I came to have an electrical problem which I cannot determine if it is related to the hoarding or not. I also have a plumbing problem that needs attention. The house was purged through a junk collector, but that is not the issue. The issue is that the house has a bad odor and there is still a lot of dirt that needs to be cleaned up. I am having a very hard time finding people that will come and do the work. I am guessing they are turned off by the smell and the lack of cleanliness. Believe me, there are clear paths for them to work, the kitchen is just about cleaned and it is not as if they will be working in the clutter.
How do I get people to come in? At first, I didn't tell anyone and I literally had the first person walk right out of my house. The second person wouldn't come back, either. The third person came initially, said he had time commitments, and would not come back. The catch 22 is that I can't continue to clean with a major electrical problem, and the water is turned off because it will leak otherwise.
If anyone has any ideas of how to secure help despite the house, I could really use it. It is really hindering me here. Among many other things, I feel like a second class citizen. My hoarding was getting out of control, but it was nowhere to the extent that you see on shows. It was not piled to the ceiling and all of the trash is gone. I still have a lot of issues to work through and there is absolutely I can get more rid of. But I just need the help to secure outside people to help, and nobody wants to.
