Hi Josh :)

Don't worry what people may think about all you are putting in the dumpster.
Just smile and tell them you are renovating, remodeling, refurbishing and redecorating the place.
You may get more answers to your questions if you post with us in the thread "The Daily Chat".

WAY TO GO!!! for all you have already accomplished. :)

Hello, my name is Josh im 20 years old and I am currently attending college in Austin TX. In about a month or so however, I am going to be retuning home to Connecticut to stay with my mother again until I can clean out the condominium she owns, the place where I grew up. Im writing this as my first social inquiry in the hoarding world. When I was about eight years old my mother first started to loose her grip with homemaking as she began to care for my grandmother following a stroke. She eventually passed away and immediately following that my father was diagnosed with cancer and we were forced to move in with my grandfather because of the pets we had. My mom didnt want to let go of the animals so she let them live relatively alone in the condo for about three years. The space has been left for almost five years in various states. I struggle with the mental anguish cleaning has on my mother but as shes grown past her struggles shes accepted more that the place needs fixing. A lot of progress has been made, I have no picture with me being here for school but its not a terrible shape, i finished out two rooms a while ago. Im wondering however if anyone has experience with cleaning an townhouse or an apartment. I personally grew up afflicted by my mother's habits but have grown to accept and understand, however the embarrassment of taking hundreds of bags to the dumpster and so forth is very difficult. The whole place needs to be repainted and the carpets have to go. Thank you all for your time.
