Hello, my name is Chris Kings and I am a Trainee Clinical Psychologist at Deakin University in Australia. We are currently investigating how possessions can sometimes feel like a part of who we are; how they can be linked to the identities of others; and, how this may relate to hoarding behaviour.
What is the purpose of the project? We are aiming to develop and validate an assessment measure that helps us better understand the links between people and their possessions. It is expected that this study will contribute to our understanding of the underlying causes of hoarding behaviour, and thereby help us in developing strategies to help people that struggle with hoarding.
Who can participate? Anyone over the age of 18 can participate.
What is involved? You simply need to complete the online questionnaires. It should take 20-30 minutes.
What will happen to my information? Participate information will be fully confidential. Only anonymous responses are stored in the study and no individual will be identified in any publication of results. It is important that you understand that your participation in this study must be voluntary. You are free to discontinue participation at any time. The results of this study may be published in an academic journal or presented at academic conferences. If these results are published, you will be able to gain access to the publication through the Deakin webpage of the Principal Researcher. Data from this study will be securely stored for a period of five years before being destroyed.
