Our house was homeless for awhile. Apparently a homeless person lived under it because we found a can of pork and beans in the floor joists after the house got a home. They are still there in the floor joists, but I do draw the line at eating them!

That's probably the basic reason-isn't that why some of us keep everything? I'd eaten some 1998 Oreos a year or so ago and wanted to see if I could stand old white McDonald's cookies too. However; it turns out the real reason was a preparation-for the tin of 1996 Oreos I just unearthed a few days ago. I think I will wait until Christmas when they are really 20 years old and then enjoy "Matured in the Christmas Tin" holiday Oreos this holiday season! (The cellophane isn't even broken on these.)

Dave ate it because it was there, of course.

Wouldn't want to waste all those years of having the cookie mature in storage‼️

Am I right❓

Earlier, I lost a button while taking off my pajama top -- the thread gave way under pressure, it went flying, and I heard it hit cardboard, but I didn't know which box it had landed in or near.

Recently, while cleaning up the floor in that part of the room, I found the button. Sewed it back into place, and also redid another button that was still attached but not very tightly.

Also, yesterday I found a container of seasoning that I knew was somewhere in the "pantry overflow" section of my room. (I'd just finished using up one shaker of the stuff.) I got the rest of that area a bit more organized, too.

Have found a penny from time to time, but will now have to concede the "found money record" to Diane. No way I can match that. (Getting an inferiority complex here... Mr Tillie has more plastic sacks and Diane finds more money.... !!)

Finally found the yellow air hose and tire chuck (re March 2015 post). They were incognito in a plastic bag on a shelf which I passed by lots and lots of times. In the meantime, the air compressor got whacked with a car door and a part broke, so now I need to replace that before I can use the found items.

Found: pieces of me
Found: some of what is motivation for me

Lost: a word. two words.
. I am obviously tired
I hate not being able to find a word and it happens more than I like!
Makes me feel like Algernon or his room mate

1. the word close to meaning getting better; improving. out of immediate danger.
2. the word close to meaning coincidence; serendipity; everything magically coming together- making sense in an unexpected and surprising way- not epiphany but similar-
I need to pull up a thesaurus

Found in the patio door room:

1. the other present for my son's birthday. I thought it was in the shed. That's what got me started in the shed the other day. It is a small stained glass decorative turtle light. Also for him have a cook book, a book about different painting methods and styles, and a black t-shirt with a graphic called "cosmic cat fart" (from K mart on sale online before Christmas) --Jerry Leigh Men's Graphic T-Shirt - Cosmic Cat Fart ... www.kmart.com/jerry-leigh-men...cosmic-cat/p-046VA71365612P-- or if you do a Yahoo search with those words (https://images.search.yahoo.com/yhs/search;_ylt=A0LEVj0lQAJV7mEAvH8nnIlQ;_ylu=X3oDMTB0dmRibmhwBHNlYwNzYwRjb2xvA2JmMQR2dGlkA1lIUzAwMV8x?_adv_prop=image&fr=yhs-mozilla-001&va=cosmic+cat+fart&hspart=mozilla&hsimp=yhs-001 and click on image results and further down more images there are some pretty cool images of cats (Tat if you happen to read this you might find something to share with your sister) and other interesting stuff. Google search results are interesting also. So I got pretty distracted.

2. two really nice children's books. I was looking for a couple to take when I go to see granddaughter and great grandkids (tomorrow or next week) so I will have something to read to them. I didn't even remember getting them. Both stories are cute and interesting and have super illustrations. One is about the west wind and an old man who lost his socks, the other is about the moon and sharing smiles. It has a smiling dresser with open drawers with smiling, dancing socks. (made me think of sock man).

3. A black skirt I had been looking for.

4. The organizing book I got years ago. Organizing from the inside out by Julie Morgenstern, I remember it making sense to me where many cleaning organizing articles etc. had not. Now I need to go back and check it out and see what was that I found so inspiring back then.

Found in the shed, gift bags and tissue paper. can use for presents tomorrow.

After moving 5 pop bottles from last year, a tv dinner tray, an aluminum pie plate I was going to make a garage door opener antenna reflector from and a bucket of rags, I found the extendable magnet I needed while working on the car last fall and the package of composite shims I needed last month.

I think my air compressor accessories have hooked up with Diane's money and gone to Alaska. One can always hope they get cold and come home

So....
I don't know for sure if they were lost, but I found Plastic Bags, Socks, Underwear and Neckties in the garden shed. Between the Shed and the garage, I think I will also turn up either 3 or 4 swimsuits. And then there are the lids for ice cream buckets and round and square lids for bakery frosting buckets.

I found the address and e-mail address of my best friend who lives in Illinois. We have known each other for 64 years. I don't know if I will actually ever be able see her again. When I see her in my mind I still see curly brown hair, but of course it is all white now.

wanted to congratulate you on saving the single glove till you found its mate. throw away, throw away seems to be the de-hoarders mantra... our society is such a throw away society. But I know I have stuff that really does need to be thrown away...giving away or recycling is easier. finding a personal balance is better. i am curious where you kept the single glove that you were able to find it when the mate turned up.

Somewhere awhile back we had a discussion about lost gloves-don't know where that was. At any rate I saved a single a few months ago in the hope of finding the mate. It just turned up, in time for cold weather, in a stash of garden gloves! getting them washed and back in a jacket.

Whew!: Glad you found your papers.

When I was around 11 I lost a gold ring that my aunt gave me. She felt angry and disappointed, and I, very sad, sorry, guilty and embarrassed :-(
We never found it again, but she finally stopped being angry with me :-)

I lost a beautiful amethyst ring that my great aunt gave me when she died. (Amethyst was my mother's birthstone--who had died a few years before.) My aunt wore the ring everyday for almost my entire life. She wanted me to have the ring because of my close connection to her and because I lost my mother, too.
I had it resized a few years ago, so that I could wear it. In my cluttered life I cannot find it. I've never worn it. :>(
I keep hoping it will turn up...but because I am so busy and so scattered, I cannot even swear that I ever picked it up from the jeweler. I called them, and they said they no longer have it in the store.

I feel both sad at my loss, and shame because of my lack of care of such a treasure.

What I am finding is that as I work through the "hoarding exercises," I am learning to feel less trauma over the loss of physical items. They represent the people that we love, but, are not, in fact, incarnations of those people.

Still very sad, but a little less horrified at my own mistake.

diane,

I hope your timer comes back soon. I was recently in a panic over mine. I needed to use it away from the kitchen and then it wasn't there when I needed it. It took me a day to find it. It turned out I'd set it down in an obscure place when turning out a light and moving an exercise bike, and then forgot to pick it up again. I'll need to use it that way again, I'll just have to be more careful next time. But I know how inconvenient and frustrating it is not to have it.

You might be able to find a pdf of your camera manual online until your paper copy turns back up.

I put my appointment calender in a new convenient home, and haven't been able to remember where it was put, have spent time daily looking for the "convenient home".
Can not find my timer, used it last week, tucked it away before visitor arrived, and it is not where I thought I put it, a good reason to have a permanent home. It is in the room I last used it, just can not find it. Thought I last used it in kitchen while doing dishes, looked in every cabinet over and over past few days.
calender and timer are usually on table, put away when company came. since I use both regularly, they will be in clear sight once they are found, no more out of sight

Lost: one check book
I have a special account for home improvements so that I don't have to bother with a high interest home equity loan for expensive repairs. I cannot find the check book for this account so that I can pay the gutter people. I am going to have to go to the bank to transfer money from the account into my regular checking account. When I went through severe depression I put things "away" in places that are a complete mystery to me.
