Lila, I completely understand that.

Thank you for your thoughts. It is hard to keep admitting all the things I am buying/accepting, but I am. And how will I know where I am if I don't keep track? It's like my age and my weight. I tell people those perfectly casually (well, I only share my weight with people who can actually see me) and when people are shocked by that I say "what? I'm going to way the same/be the same age if I don't tell. You can see me."

You guys can't see my house, but I need to pretend that you can.

I added two books today. They are for Bean, but he is keeping them here.

Alright. Working in my room. 2 small items out (1 trash, 1 donate).

I am not as motivated since I am already well past my goal of 360 for the year, as silly as that sounds. So I am making a new goal of 500 items for this year.

SubC, but you are keeping at it, being accountable by posting here. It would be easy to stick your head in the sand and stop counting to avoid the uncomfortable feelings of not meeting your goals. But you keep on, and that is a positive step - awareness - that can lead to change.

I hope to have something to add to this Tally by the end of today. There is a trash can by my bed and an empty box for donations on my bed, so I am set for success. Now to get my mind and body in line.

Also, my net items in is clearly becoming a problem.

Unpacked and sorted out all my treasures. Discarded, one bathing suit that had apparently acquired a see through butt. (Good news, I packed 2)

Added 11 books, a glass frog, horse clippers, 2 bracelets, 2 necklaces, and a little bamboo box.

Net for trip, +17

15 more items from the master bathroom, all in the trash. Mostly old bath bombs, scrubs, soaks, stuff I have had in a cabinet for 15+ years and never used but refused to throw out until now.

MUCH more space in there now!

I started working on my master bathroom.
I did 15 minutes so far - had to break it into smaller pieces. So far I discarded 5 items that I was saving for future use but the time has passed (partially used body scrubs, lotions, face wash etc that have been hanging onto for ages).

One token item for the Tally:

A nice dog collar that I bought 12 years ago and never even used, and now that dog is gone, so I got it out for the new dog to try and it is the most annoying collar ever, cute but awful material, won't even buckle all the way. I threw it out - it is personalized with my phone number on it so it would not be of use to anyone.

I filled the back of my car with recycling to go to the community drop today.

On the way home I stopped in several upper-middle class housing developments that were having community yard sales. After an hour I started feeling smothered. Also I rediscovered a sense of despair about the American lifestyle in general.

I got a free book that looked kind of interesting, and at one house, a bag with work boots, water shoes, crocs, three t-shirts, and a bathing suit for Bean. - $6. That's about twice what I would have expected at a garage sale for his uncle, so about right. (3% annual inflation, prices double in 23 years) plus a little preschool sized shark backpack that I'm not sure which grandkid it is for. I am only counting the book because the rest is leaving in the next month or so, mostly, maybe all, tomorrow.

Came home and puttered around the house and have added 20 items to the thrift store drop loaded in my car.

I was feeling a bit down today and really sluggish. But I wanted to do at least something to improve my bedroom.

There in the corner is an overflowing (onto the floor) box of teas. In it were whole and partial boxes of teas, individual teabags, etc... so many. They were in the kitchen but my grand-toddler kept pulling them out of the tea drawer and dumping them. I already threw out a bunch when I took them into my bedroom. I have a thing about tea.

But how annoying is it to have tea all over the floor?? Such a mess. I decided today, I would go through and throw away anything "really" expired and anything I don't really like. I ended up throwing away 14 boxes of tea! Many of them were mostly full, one was new in a wrapper, one expired in 2012!! I now have less than half of the overflowing box left, which is not that many and can fit into a smaller storage space.

Proud of myself - I have tried to get rid of those teas so many times. I just hit the day that they don't matter.

Got rid of 17 items total including

box of tea I don't like
a bathrobe
a few shirts (yay)

I stared with the upstairs storage bedroom.

7 items gone! Pretty good, considering I have sorted that room several times this year.

1 towel
1 kid's Halloween costume
1 zippered storage bag
1 velvet lined box I have saved for 15 years and never used
1 dress-up skirt
2 more random things I can't remember

I am down to the last few items to find places for, got stressed so am taking a break. I should be able to finish that room in 10 minutes.

It was a good sale today.

I sold 31 things that are not my standard kept in stock items, traded two, and unfortunately broke one - it happens.

But that is 34 pottery items out. (The things I bought and traded for are general items in) I think I am going to struggle to get to 100 by the end of summer, but I will keep trying. I definitely want to lighten the low end of my stock.

So, the shopping/trading
2 garden stakes, two little sculptural pieces for me, two for gifts (don't count), and an espresso cup. 5 in.

Lila, I am impressed by how fast you are moving!

I took two "rework" pots to toss out on Friday, and I gave one to my friend today, so that is 5/100 for spring/summer.

I have finished 24 good pots in my class so far, but most of those are intended for sale. (The bad pots have gone in the dumpster - yay me!) This is why I am trying to do 100 out around my spring/summer sale - I need to sell/discard more than I make! I already have a bunch of inventory!

I have thought about my shopping trip yesterday. I am going to count the abc blocks as one in, because they are clearly taking up brain space and physical space, but if/when the extras leave I will count one out and the replacement figures don't count.

The toy sets are one in each, plus book and shirt. Most of the trays I will not count because they are just sliding into existing shelf space to corral small objects and improve existing storage and have been on my watch for list, but one stacking set I will count as one.

So, +30 for 2024

I did take a "rework" pot I decided I was never going to rework to the pottery studio with me yesterday and throw it in the dumpster. I have decided that since I work on new pots when I go to the studio I will make myself take one "rework" every time. If I make new pots instead of reworking it, into the dumpster it goes.

So I am 2/100 out for spring/summer

The sorting is getting harder and it is slower going, but that's good in a way. It means I have gone through most of my things again.

Today's win: I took all the donate stuff to the charity and donated it. And as I was leaving, I grabbed a pole light that has been gathering dust in my bedroom, always getting in the way, but I thought it might be useful or something, someday... donated it, too.

Sent to Teen, she will probably get rid of:
costume parts
hat
small new bulletin board
pins
hair things
black suede boots she just HAD to have, like new
concert sweatshirt
blankets

Donated:
many sheets and blankets
handmade quilts
costume parts
pillowcases
