I did it!

Worked on a cupboard I hadn't opened in a while and a set of plastic drawers in the basement. 9 more pots out and 38 other items! A lot of them were small, but each one was a decision. Also found some bits of trash and recycling - which I did not count, but did put in the appropriate bags to go.

Pots out -158
Items out - 104

Not as impressive as 2024, but still good progress.

328 net items over the two years. I can't really add the pots, because I didn't inventory what I made, but I think I will next year.

I worked on my bedroom briefly, mainly the storage cabinet. It was harrrd, so I had to stop.

- an origami box thing I have saved for like 9 months
- a Book of Remembrance for my son, who is now 30, that was given to me when he was born but I never filled out any pages

This morning I found a dusty old thin cloth grocery bag in the corner, covered in hair and dust. I threw that out.

I also finally took the broken, not working, old dusty lamp off my nightstand, took it apart, and put it in the trash.

2 items out!

Sunday night, last little shot at my bedroom for today.

Eight items donated including another water bottle, a brand new set of sealed lip gloss, a new set of sealed nail polish, 4 packages sealed new sheers (like curtains, were for Teen's room but she changed her mind and they never got hung) and one more thing I already forgot.

Sunday

Cleaning my bedroom. Pulled everything from under the bed - super dusty, random stuff. Also sorting on surfaces.

Donated a large book.
Threw out an old bra, a couple of sad dog toys, some old face mask stuff that was under my bed, and a bunch of old meds and bottles of stuff from a bin under my bed.

14 more items out.

Wow I am making some real progress.

Sorted a big pile of journals/planners in my room.
Tore out the few pages with info I need.
Put 6 in the trash. Put 2 with hardly any pages missing in the donate box.

8 more items gone.

Five items from my bedroom:
2 books my grandkids tore but I was saving to fix but it's not really worth it in their condition, into the trash
3 other items donated: heart gem, metal water bottle with its cover that I have saved for years but never use (counted as one item), one other thing I already forgot
Plus a frying pan from the kitchen that I noticed has a place with the nonstick coming off, into the trash.
Six items in all.

Good afternoon.

Lila, I am looking forward to your final tally for the year.

We have rested and tidied up. My last count of non-consumable items in for the year is 20. Mostly used books. Also some grandson made magnets and ornaments, a couple of cool art fair items, and a nice shirt and a pair of boots.

I am hoping to work in the basement next week and bring my yearend tally up to 100, but it may be a stretch.

Way to stay accountable, SubC!

I worked on my bedroom, sorting things, moving them into boxes to go in the little bedroom/storage room.

Donated: 2 stone crosses, a rubber ball
Trash: a tin of old candy, a box of treats someone gave me that no one likes, a couple old ornaments that no one else would want.
So far, 7 items out!

Good job Lila!

I will tally up all the things I received today - so many! Later, but I have handed out all the teacher gifts I am passing on, so non-consumable teacher gifts in - 1 glass, two ornaments, fabric gift bag, and a snowman garland (currently individual snowmen, but they will be tied together, so I'm calling it one)

It is getting easier to let things go that I am somewhat ambivalent about. I had a new sweatshirt in my drawer for who knows how many years, so today I tried it on. It fit but was slightly too tight, and the wrist part was definitely too tight. I think for years I kept thinking that I would lose weight and it would fit, but this time, I was like... I don't love it, anyway. So it went into the donate box.

Good progress Lila!

I have loaded the car at my parents' house and am driving home.

Acquired:
4 toys with multiple pieces from when I was a kid - calling it 4.
One hand me down decorative mug sized sleigh I asked for.
Shirt, puzzle, ornament - 3
And stationary and edible treats that are consumable and don't count.

So 8 things.

My mother's house is beautiful, but so big, and so full! Every surface is decorated. I look around and think about how someday, hopefully not for a long time, I'm going to be making decisions about everything. If I emptied my entire house, I couldn't keep 25% of it. It gives me motivation to clear out the things that need work or are just "ok."

Anyway

Chipping away at my room.

I sorted some things in the small bedroom/storage, threw out a few things, donated some stuff (new coloring books and unopened packages of paper, some other stuff from there and my room), gave 5 notebooks and coloring books to Tot, threw out Teen's old phone which is super old, very very cracked, has no SIM card so I deleted everything and locked it and threw it out.

Also went through another box on the floor, put items where they go and threw 2 out. Another empty box for donations.

16 items gone in all.

In my bedroom was a CD tower full of CDs. In the storage bedroom was another one plus a box holder full of CDs. I sorted these before but sorted again, donated 19 CDs and now all of them fit into the rack and box in the storage room. Progress!

One bag of key rings and one book that makes me sad, donated.

It is getting so hard to find things to donate from my bedroom. I have someplace to go, and I think when I get back I will try to find personal care items to throw away from my personal bathroom off my bedroom, and a box of personal care stuff that's sitting in my room, so that I can fit everything in the bathroom cabinets.

Friday -

sorted the back of my car so I can fit the donation boxes in there to be dropped off. Found 2 items to donate. Also sorted a box of books someone gave me to use at a work event and took out a good amount to donate, but not counting those are they never came in my house. I also found another item in my bedroom to donate.

another update. Man what a hard day.

While putting the jewelry back, I chose another handful of pieces to donate. Then I sorted the next drawer down and threw out several underwear that are getting old and thin and not comfortable. Also donated and tossed several other things from on top of the dresser.

I also took Teen's little jewelry and special things plus the ponytails and put them all in a plastic box, and put it into the other room. Those do not count as they are still in my house, but they are not in my bedroom anymore.

17 more things out. I am emotionally exhausted.

I got really emotional and upset about something so after a good cry, I channeled that emotion into sorting my jewelry drawer. This is a big, shallow drawer in top of my dresser that has had most of my jewelry tossed in it for 20+ years. The things I mainly wear are on TOP of my dresser or in a jewelry box across the room.

There were all sorts of necklaces tangled together, chains, bracelets, rings. Also a scattering of coins, keys, safety pins and junk. It took me about a half hour to take each piece out one by one, untangling as I went.

I found 12 pieces of jewelry I wanted to donate and put them in sealed baggies. I threw out some junk. All the rest is piled/laid out on a large box. I will think about each piece as I put them back and probably donate a few more. It is hard. I also put some of it into a very small jewelry box one of my kids gave me like 15 years ago but sat empty on my dresser all this time. Gosh I feel pathetic.

Needed a break before finishing. I also found like 4 baggies of my kids' hair. I think all of it might be Teen's from when she was a little girl. Ponytails in bags. I saved them to show her the color change from how golden it was. I also found several little-girl bracelets I saved for her. I think my heart broke a little again. I think I will stick all of it in the other room with the other few things I saved for her. Don't really want it in my room anymore.

7 boxes of protein bars, out to the trash. Seriously I never count food thrown out, but these boxes have been sitting on my nightstand for like 2 years gathering dust. They are all expired. They were expensive so I was keeping them. But the money is gone, no one is eating them, so out they go. My bedroom is better already!

Good job SubC. Getting things to the car and dropped off without taking things back out is a HUGE accomplishment. In fact, I have a box in my car and two boxes in my bedroom that I need to go drop off. Thank you for nudging me to do that. I will see if I have time to do it tomorrow.

There are only 22 days left in the year, and I have to get rid of 47 items to hit my goal. Since I rarely get rid of things on work days, this means about 16 items per weekend. I better get on it.

Ten things out, not counting some bits and pieces that I was "saving for crafts" and have bravely recycled or trashed.

I will definitely need to go out this afternoon and drop trash etc so I don't second guess myself. I think there will be a crash later.

Lila, I think you are doing great!

I went to the thrift store looking for stocking stuffers with dd1 today. Only found a container for me, but, found out Bean wants plastic pencil boxes for his "office supplies" I have two, so I put them in the stocking box - net one out!

Also, I picked up my check from the pottery sale and it was quite a bit more than I expected, so apparently I failed to write down sone of my restock pots on my inventory list. I don't know if I can ever figure that one out, but based on my prices it had to be at least 5 more pots - and probably more than that - maybe ten. But I will give myself credit for 5.
