Thanks for the support everyone! :D

Today I went through the 2 boxes that had nothing but bags and purses in them; and I decided to get rid of over 100 bags and purses. So I now have only 15 bags and purses that I am deciding to keep. :)

I had A LOT of bags and purses.

MayMay, sounds like your friends were just the kind of support you needed to push through. Getting rid of 95 pairs of shoes is terrific. I know, I love shoes, too (and purses). Don't most women? Just remember, you can only wear one pair at a time, hon.

Way to go, MayMay -- Keeping your forward momentum :)

I think it's great your things are already boxed into "categories" of like items. I also find it easier to discard when I can see all of one kind together. It's a good tip for me to remind myself of ;)

Glad you're stickin' to your plan & keep us posted on your progress!

Thanks diane. :)

Yes, they are a great group of guys. I don't know what I'd do without them. :)

So far I haven't had any problems figuring out what I want to keep and what I want to give away. :)

I've found that its so much easier going through all of the stuff and deciding what to keep and what to give away when it is all organized in boxes and is not scattered all throughout my bedroom and closet. :)

Thanks for letting us know the shoe story, 10 pair is much better than 100 pair!!! You are doing so great and thank goodness for your friends.

Today I went down to the fire station and went through some of the boxes that have stuff from my room in them. :)

I went through the 2 boxes that were filled with nothing but shoes; and decided to get rid of 95 pairs of shoes. Which means that I now have only 10 pairs of shoes that I am deciding to keep. :)

I know to some people 10 pairs of shoes probably sounds like a lot of shoes; but to me, 10 pairs of shoes is not that many. :)

Tomorrow I am going to go back down to the fire station and go through the 2 boxes that have nothing but bags and purses in them. :)

Congratulations, MayMay!

Roxie -- I love the FlyLady.net site I saw you mention somewhere on these boards -- I just checked it out again recently.

Diane -- Enjoy your fine-tuning time :)

Hi Dianne & thank you for your welcome to me :)

Hi Tillie, LynneS, Janice, Karl, Billie -- Forgive me: I know I'm not getting everyone's names here... Be patient w/ me -- with time I will ;0

I will post more later today or tmrw -- I want to get moving on my 15 minutes cleaning task before I lose my "umph" ;)

I saw this quote I really liked on proboards last night -- you all have probably already seen it or shared it, but I'll post it here anyway...

"The only difference between try & triumph is a little "umph." ~anonymous

Hope you all are making progress & treating yourselves with kindness!

Thanks Roxie and Dianne. :)

Roxie,
All of the firefighters who helped clean my room are my boss' former co-workers. My boss is a retired firefighter; and he owns the bar that I work at. And my boyfriend and his best friend are both paramedics. :)

Dianne,
I will definitely bake some cookies for all of them. :)

MayMay that sound like an ideal situation. You have a completely clean, fresh home base and all the extras are moved to a place where they are stored safely.

Good luck deciding what to keep and what to donate. And bake some cookies for all those great guy friends you have!! :)

MayMay, okay, now I get the reference to the firetruck in your other post. You are most fortunate to have friends (coworkers?) like those who helped out.

Hey diane,

Thanks. Tomorrow I plan on going down to the fire station so that I can start sorting through some of the boxes to find stuff that I want to keep and stuff that I want to give away. :)

Because I've noticed that some new people have started posting on here while I was in Hawaii, I am going to tell you all a little bit about what my room used to look like before I went to Hawaii and decided to let my boss, my boyfriend, my boyfriend's best friend, and a bunch of my boss' firefighter friends clean my room while I was gone. :)

Before I went to Hawaii, my room and closet both looked like a level 3 hoard. And one day while I was at work my boss told me that if I didn't have my room and closet cleaned by the time that I was supposed to leave for Hawaii, then him and a bunch of his firefighter buddies were going to come in and clean it while I was gone. :)

I just saw my closet and bedroom for the first time since I got back from Hawaii. :)

It looks AMAZING!!!!! :D

I absolutely LOVE it!!!!! :D

The firefighters did a great job at cleaning and organizing everything. :)

I still have some boxes of stuff to go through at the fire station though. The firefighters put a lot of stuff in boxes for me to go through and find stuff to get rid of. They put all of my shoes into 2 boxes; I have over 100 pairs of shoes. And they also put all of my bags and purses into 2 more boxes; I also have over 100 bags and purses too. They also went through all of the space saver bags that I had hidden away under my bed; and put everything that was in all of the bags into 3 boxes and then got rid of all the space saver bags. I had 50 space saver bags hidden under my bed.

The reason they put a lot of stuff in boxes for me to go through is because they didn't want to accidentally get rid of anything that I wanted to keep.

They did an INCREDIBLY AWESOME job!!!!! :D

They also had a scrapbook made with pictures from the clean-up in it, and they all signed it too. It's so AWESOME!!!!! :)

One of the reasons that they made the scrapbook was so that I will always remember the clean-up; even after I move in with my boyfriend. :)

After they all showed me my newly cleaned room and closet, my boyfriend told me that if I'm able to keep my room and closet clean for at least 3 months, then I can move in with him. :)

So now I am definitely going to start keeping my room and closet more clean and organized from now on. :)
