I'm so sorry. Just clear a path for the plumber and say that you are in transition. Back before I cleaned out my house, I explained that I was going through my mother's boxes. I'm so sorry! Please feel free to join us over on What Are You Doing Today. We are a lively group in various stages of clean up. My house has been clean and cleared since 2018, if you can believe it, and I now have house cleaners once a week. We can help you commiserate and make decisions and whatever else you need. This message board got me here. Please join us!

I actually did remove alot of papers and garbage from the car. Obviously it wasn't enough. I only removed a piece of clothing and a magazine since than.

I unfortunately have a bigger issue now with a pipe in the basement leaking after using the shower and one bathroom. So getting the house presentable for a plumber is taking priority and now I'm even more concerned with how clean things should be.

I'm sorry that happened to you. That sounds unfair. In addition to covering the papers with a coat, is there any trash you could dispose of? Sometimes it's hard to notice food wrappers. You may not have any, but if you do, might as well trash them. We've all had a messy car. Don't lose hope.

Had an embarassing experience, when I couldn't get service on a car. The mechanic called me and the way he was starting to describe the situation I thought the car had serious mechanical problems. In reality I had some books and paper on the floor and passenger seat. They serviced the car before in worse conditions. I think if I kept my coat on the top of the papers it would of been fine. Cannot figure out how to add a photo, but I am still shocked and angry by the experience. The driver seat had a few bits of paper like when you rip out a sheet of paper from a spiral notebook.

I will put my coat back in the car and try another mechanic.
