I could use some sound advice on how to deal with my own emotions regarding a sibling who hoards. Her habits have put her in a financial hole that our parents have to bail her out of. But the cycle just continues: get money to pay off debt, rack up more debt buying stuff, get money to pay off credit card, go shopping until the card is maxed out, ask parents to make her payments.
Our parents are unduly stressed over it. I know if I bail her out, it will only perpetuate the cycle, and I can't afford to do that anyway, but it's not fair that it falls on our parents, who now have to pay for their own long-term care. I don't want see my sister homeless, but I also don't want to just contribute to her hoarding.
How do I find the balance between setting up boundaries between us and still being compassionate?
