Hi, all of you wonderful accomplishers!!! Everyone seems to have delved into more levels of things since i last checked in! Im glad to see that! Overall my place is improving. Earlier this week i took on a very scary & upsetting area of my closet, with paperwork from when i was being terrorized by a serious bad guy. I put the legal papers & notes i needed to keep from it in a box. There were many things id forgotten about from that time before going through that stuff. My boyfriend sat with me through it which felt comforting. My goal is to turn my closet back into a pleasant place for fun clothes to wear, instead of a dark place, lurking with frightening remnants of my past. It is getting much closer!!! YEA!!! :D
I hope you all keep getting further along, like you have! You are a strong group of folks! :D

When making a clickable link
click on the "link" icon right above the writing space
a box will appear top left of the screen
erase the http on that line
I had copied the link when I was visiting your facebook page
then I pasted the link in that space in that box that appeared
I clicked on "OK"
the next line in the box I wrote Darci's link and pressed "OK" again
the clickable link was made
All I did then was post my reply

:)

Karl taught me how to do that :D

Thanks, Tillie. Wasn't sure if a new topic could be started without some process/approval... because of the spamming issues.

Hi Darci :)

Just click on "NEW TOPIC" that's right beside the new post button and then start the new topic.
I know how to post links here but don't know how to post pictures that would appear without opening a link.
But maybe you know how.

GETTING UNSTUCK... DO YOU HAVE SOME PRACTICAL FIXES TO SHARE (besides behavior modifiers) THAT YOU WISH YOU DISCOVERED YEARS BEFORE YOU DID?

I used to rely on clear stackable drawers to QUICKLY put away and access items. WORKED WONDERS in support of the OHIO rule (only handle it ONCE)....until I had to move again and was forced to put my things in a basement. Unfamiliar with the region, I had no idea that ALL my things stored in these would be overridden with MOLD and have to be TRASHED. OMG... hoarder nightmare and recipe for dangerous re-acquiring.

So, I switched to bins with lids. (CLEAR ones better but pricier!)

Another recipe for disaster because instead of being able to quickly put away things, they went into a pile until I could move and unstack the bins. bad, bad... very bad. Mold resistent, but bad. Big time on breaking the OHIO rule, created more clutter which attracted more clutter which... well, you know the spiral.

So, since I am taking baby steps out of a huge set back, I needed a practical fix for sorting (not even enough room for setting up the ol' "donate/trash/keep" sorters).

So, I found an AWESOME band aid level fix: FURNITURE MOVERS UNDER THE STACKS OF BINS.

This allows me to move just one stack of bins to an open area for sorting, putting things away etc. and allows me to actually clean my baseboards. YAY!! Now, for you purists, I know that you may consider this just another way to enable churning, but I am too far in the hole and too alone to do better than baby steps now.

PLEASE SHARE YOUR PRACTICAL FIXES.

TILLIE: can we create a new category for "PRACTICAL FIXES". also, can we post pics?

Second post in case first post disappears. :)

We tried to set it up where we all would establish an account and then sign in to read or post here.
That system was not working, could only sign into an established account but would not let us create an account.
Sorry :(

It's not over. Things will improve soon.

Hang in there & keep posting :D

Well, using a Captcha-only system is always going to be more vulnerable than one requiring creating an account. The only way you reading this right now know it's me, the original CriticalMass, is by trusting that I am who I say I am. That and my inimitable wit and good looks, LOL! And my tales of the Battle of the Storage Unit. But otherwise it would take my IP address to know if it was really me. And by using a different computer I could attempt to foil that, but the IP address would raise a red flag still if it's from the same town.

The way i feel about this new system of delayed posts and Cory having to mess with it, is it seems to allow the spammer to totally victimize us. It doesnt seem such a big deal just to pass over spam...but thats just me.

well I didnt realize what was happening with the board... why wouldnt roxie's idea of flaging just the spam for cory work? the delay interupts the flow and must really discourage new posters

Well, there's nothing like having an even worse hoarder come over and want disgusting garbage to take home, to make me want to toss even more stuff! I felt guilty letting him leave for his house with that stuff, instead of taking it to the dump...like im being a hoarder-enabler or something?!!? Plus, he kept wanting to use old, rotted wire and stuff to hook up my washer/dryer!!! I kept telling him i dont want to burn my place down over a $20. savings on wire?!! He did more for inspiring me to get rid of stuff, than any therapist ever could!!! Im serious!!! ha ha :D

Perhaps there is a way we the boardees can "flag" a post that is spam so you can easily review just them?

That's okay. We'll work around what it takes to make the boards as spam-free as possible. Hopefully those with too much time on their hands will take their stupid elsewhere. Thanks Cory for all you do. Spam happens.

Thanks guys but as long as you don't get impatient waiting for me to approve your posts we should be good. When I am filming there could be 10 hour delays from the time you post something before its visible.

Also, I know that SPAM is annoying, but not sure how Cory, a human being pulled in heavens knows how many directions, could possible handle all that traffic. Couldn't we all just ignore the spam and see it for what it is: just an annoyance? It is wonderful that we can come together like this... just don't think it is realistic for Cory (or anyone) to be under that much pressure. Maybe we could all pay a teeny fee to help offset the automated tools to help control spam. Goodness knows we probably all waste more than an annual $20.00 fee in other places. Just hate to see this all fall on Cory's shoulders... both in time and $$.

Hi Tillie,
Is this because of the spam or were people starting to get snippy? (or both). Of the ones I read to get a feel for the boards of late, everyone seemed pretty civil...

HI EVERYBODY! :D

Cory has been working on fixing our boards but there are a few concessions we all have to make right now.
He is manually approving all posts before they appear here, so we have to wait a little before we see them.
Secondly, he would have to personally manually approve every single past post we have ever written here for them all to still be posted.
So, lets give him a break on that one and just start fresh.
This is not the total end result. He is still working to make this board user friendly again.

Tillie :D

Hey Everybody! :D

Cory is working his fingers off trying to get this message board safe again.
Please be patient.
Right now he is personally approving ALL posts.
We hope to keep tweaking the system till it all runs smoothly again.

Give a BIG WAY TO GO!!! for all his efforts! :D
