thanks so much Dave

February disappeared.
My son went for reverse colostomy and is doing okay.
That last cold spell in February was just too much.
All the daffodils had buds already.

So today it was HOT.
Almost the middle of March already
All the daffodils are blooming
My son's birthday is Friday. he will be 44 yrs old.
We still don't know when the Doctor will release him for work and whether he will be able to do as much physical work as he did before.
I have been having a lot of trouble sleeping. anxiety. worry. time, energy, finances, etc. everything is too overwhelming. I wake up at about 3 AM every morning.
Worked in the car and the shed a little today. organizing and getting a bunch of recycling out.
We need to do taxes! I need to sort and file a bunch of "important" papers.
My grandson (21 yrs old) finally got a real job. I think his girlfriend "encouraged" him. So now he works 6 days a week; 62 hrs a week. My daughter also finally got back to work. Not good jobs but they have $$ coming in at last.
I am at a loss about how to deal with my huge hoarding problem. I have these daymares of being on The Hoarders TV show.
I check in here occasionally. it helps some.
I was so glad to see Roxie's posts and really miss Dianne.
Well time for me to try to get my three hour sleep.

Bitsy, as we age the winters are definitely longer, harder, colder, bleaker and I do a lot of reading too. I still haven't adjusted to the early darkness and am ready for bed by 6:00 pm most every night. Since I know that would mean 14 hours of tossing and turning it's comforting to get under the blankets and read for hours. I'm a fan of real books. Amazon loves me.

I had heard about the monarchs and bees but not the starfish. I already feel sad for my grandchildren at what they have missed by living in this age probably the same way my parents and grandparents felt for the younger generations.

That's great news about the eagles though! I saw their massive nests occasionally but I just saw my first eagle in flight several weeks ago. It was glorious!

The reemergence of another species excites me also ~ bison! As a child I thought they were extinct. In my early twenties I was hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains and came into a panoramic view of the Shenandoah Valley. On some of the slopes were a herd of bison! I swear it was like that scene in the Jurassic Park movie where the guy looks up and sees the dinosaurs for the first time. I felt like I fell thru some time warp and there were all these magnificent creatures grazing peacefully. Obviously they weren't extinct!

Since then I've been able to observe them up close. There is a beautiful bison farm on the eastern coast. I took my father there when he was pretty old. Being a huge nature lover he was so delighted!

Thanks for the eagle link, I'll check that out. :)

Thanks Dianne.
The winters seem to be getting longer and harder every year.
I end up spending way too much time reading

So yesterday I read that the star fish are dyeing
And have known monarch populations are diminishing due to habitat reduction and maybe pesticides or GMOs (I can't remember which)
And bees too

But eagles are doing well.
If anyone is interested the following info is from: http://berryeagles.tumblr.com/
January 9, 2015 Update
"A few minutes after 7 p.m. tonight, the Berry eagle female produced a second egg, exactly three days after the first. "
January 14, 2015
".the first egg hatching around February 10 and the second egg hatching around February 13. The eaglets spend 10-14 weeks in the nest which puts fledging between March 17 and April 14."

AKA that crazy old lady {{{hugs}}}

Bitsy, this crazy old lady here was very touched by your poetic musings. You put into words so poignantly what I feel but cannot express.

We put on our positive faces and try to soldier on but inside we may feel as lifeless as the "dry shriveled up brown leaves" on the oak trees.

I know I do.

Take heart. (I know you are because of the beauty in your words.) Your wrens' bushes will grow back. So will your lavender azalea. Been there, right down to the lavender azalea.

This is a lovely thread you have started. I hope you'll continue it with other thoughts and observations. Most of the time I am very down and don't really feel I can express that. Especially when we are all trying so hard to be up and achieving.

"I don't know how to live." I can't tell you how many times I think those exact words. It's horrible.

We may not know how to live as others do but maybe the way we live with our vulnerable selves and sharing that is the deeper, true sense of living. From the heart, with gentleness and care.

dear bitsy,

I stopped by for a few minutes last night and saw your post. I was struck by the rhythm, cadence and sadness of your words. They evoked feeling and memories.

Years ago I was renting a small place. I became quite sick and was confined to bed for 2 or 3 days. The windows had the old style wide venitian (sp?) blinds on them. Outside the window was a large holly bush. It was winter and there was snow. With the blinds open I could lie there and look out at the holly bush with the snow on it. It was beautiful. The next summer there were problems with the house. The holly bush had to be severely trimmed for the repairs to happen. That was hurtful.

I hope that your eyes and your heart will carry you through.

Winter fugue or mid-winter blues

I'm stuck
I hurt and I am scared
My brain is on vacation
The sun was out today
It got warm
My feet are not cold

I saw a gray bird that was the size of a robin or a mocking bird
But fatter than a mocking bird and it doesn't sit with a perky tail
or fly the way a mocking bird does
I don't know what kind of bird it is
I wonder if I will ever know
It likes to sit on the big "weed shrub"
I think that it is an invasive privet
I can watch it from the car window
It eats berries off of that bush

My daughter trimmed back the bushes
They grew around the front and side of the house
She trimmed them so far back that I don't think they will live
Those were the bushes where all the wrens hung out
Good bye my wrens
Good bye to the lavender large flowered azaleas
The oak trees are still dressed in dry shriveled up brown leaves
The daffodils will start popping up soon

I heard a wise sad song on NPR today
I don't know how to live

AKA. that crazy old lady
