Thanks Cory.

I am still at it. I am trying to stay on task and not worry about the rest of the house. I do feel pretty good that I have done as much as I did. Once I start a task I am pretty good at staying at it. My problem is just getting started.

So far today I have packed my suitcase for my trip to Michigan. Me and my parents will be leaving for Michigan tomorrow afternoon to visit with some relatives. In about an hour I'm going to go drop my 2 dogs Cory and Matt, off at the kenal. I feel bad leaving them there.:( this morning while I was packing, they started getting some of their dog toys and putting them in my suitcase. It was so cute. I think they thought that they were going to go to Michigan with me.

Good morning everybody,

I understand MayMay, it bothers me too that we can't edit our posts here & fix them. ;)

My To-Do list today...
water stuff outside since our humidity is only 5% things are drying out fast.

Straighten the garden tools and summer things in the tiny corner of the garage where I store them. Almost time to put them all away until next year. :(
Seems like it would be a simple job but he has covered access to this area with an assorted pile about 3 feet deep and 4 feet high.
Immediately after, shower/shampoo wash the clothes I was wearing.

Straighten out my linens in the closet area and drawer where they are stored.

Decide what I want to eat for supper and cook it.
Clean the kitchen.

Have a great & productive day everyone! :)

Hey. :) just posting again because I just realized I made a huge typing error in my last post. In my last post I meant to say rib cage but I accidentally just said cage. I know its probably really weird and random that I wanted to clarify that error but I wouldn't be able to sleep if I didn't do it even though I'm really tired right now. It's part of my OCD. :)

Hey Tillie. :) yeah my friend's aunt also told me to think about what a tattoo might look like later on in life. She told me about how she got a tattoo of a bird right under her cage and then soon after she got the tattoo she became pregnant and the tattoo got all stretched out. She said that the tattoo use to look like a cute little bird but now it looks like big bird. lol. :)

Hi MayMay :) Thank you.

Remember that if you and only you decide with a clear & sober head to get inked it must be your decision alone and not influenced by anyone else at all.

Keep in mind that tats age and skin sags and what looks good today will look radically different some day down the road ;)

Have a great rest of today :D

Today I accidentally woke up late. Then I went to the tattoo shop with my friend and watched her get her 5th tattoo done. When she told me what she was getting she asked me if I wanted to come along with her and watch, I was like, "hell yeah!" The tattoo is amazing! She got a portrait of Johnny Depp tattooed on her arm. It's so cool! Then after that I came home and relaxed for a little bit and now I'm getting ready to go to work.:)

Thank you Sheryl and Cory :)

He has made a lot of positive progress.
I think 4 steps forward and 1 step backward is pretty good still.

My To-Do list for today

I don't post it but every day of the year first thing I do every morning is feed the cats canned food, wash their dishes, fill their kibble bowls and give them fresh water (4 different bowls placed around) then I scoop their litter boxes.

Wash his laundry. When he puts his dirty clothes in his hamper I reward him by washing them.
Wash cat blankets
Wash rags & rugs
Finish dusting
Wash and cut up melon

Then I have the entire afternoon to work on my quilt while I watch movies on Netflix! :D

Tillie,
I am very sorry to hear this too. I think it is more important to look at the bigger picture. A year ago, he would have bought this stuff, but wouldn't have been doing the good things too. He has come a long way, so don't let the occasional small setbacks discourage you. We really can't expect him to change over night. We know that hoarding is something people will have to learn to manage for life. He will continue to fall off once in a while, but you keep doing what you are doing with him. He is so lucky to have you in his life and I hope he continues to work on himself as he has been. You both deserve better and I think he is finally realizing that if not for himself, he must do it for you. Hang in there Tillie and know we are all here for you :)

:(

He came home with 1000.00 worth of stuff that he only paid 230.00 for.
He was very happy.
I hate sales. Now we have a bunch of home & garden stuff we have no use for.
And he was doing so GOOD these last few months.
No dumpster diving or sale shopping.
Hope to get him back on the no acquiring wagon.

After I rest and eat some lunch I need to

Today, Sunday

The local Ace hardware/home improvement center is having their "sidewalk" sale.
Everything reduced 50% on Saturday and 75% today. :(

I was woken up at 6:30 this morning by the sound of his truck leaving. :(
It is almost 11:00 now and he is still not back home. :(
I just know in my heart where he is. :(

And he was doing so good these last few months. :(

I promise to be back next weekend! Have a great day and keep up the good work, keeping him in check while providing for you own sanity!

Good morning :D

Sometime today I will be going to the grocery store.
I have a list all made up of what I need to get.
Most important thing on my list is "Cat Snacks" because every evening all 5 of the cats insist that they deserve snacks & pester me until they get some.

All weekend long I try to motivate my hoarder to declutter and fill up the trash cans.
The weather is cooler here now and I am hoping he will do more in the carport.
The goat path through there has been getting more cluttered and harder to walk through.
He hasn't brought in "new" stuff it's because he has been moving stuff around, sorting, and piling up things there. His staging area.

Have a great day everybody. :D

put away the clean dishes
drive to Boulder and purchase my school books
prep binders for courses
figure out which bag will fit needed items (mend backpack if needed)
make list of everything else (pens/ paper etc) that I will need (cheaper to buy these items off campus)
make a trip to the dumpster and throw away trash
water plants on balcony

Good luck to everyone on today's endeavors :D

Tillie,
My deepest sympathy to you at this time of sorrow.

Hannah - doing anything at all is very important and should be celebrated, even if it only appears to be a small task to you. Every little bit helps :)
To get to the online chat room (where the Sunday and Tuesday meeting are)you want to:
From this page click on the white on red "online support group" (located on the right hand side of the screen). The same exact thing can be used from the home screen.
If you use google chrome (which I love), you can bookmark the support group page. Just click on the "online support group" button then, once there hold down the Ctrl button and hit the letter D
It will pop up a little box in the upper right hand corner that will give you an option to save as is, or you can change the name to whatever you like, and select what folder it goes to.
If you do use google chrome you could go a step further and save it to the main apps / shortcut page (not sure what it's actually called).
To do this (the easiest way) is to open up two different google chrome internet windows (not tabs, but windows). Unless you have a duel monitor system you will have to keep the windows smaller (so you can see both on your monitor side by side at the same time)
In the first window open up to the chat room page.
In the other window pull up the "apps"/ shortcut page (it should already be up and showing when you opened the second window)
then highlight with your mouse the web address from the chat room page and then click (and hold) and drag it to the "apps" page.
If there are apps or shortcuts you don't use you can get rid of them, and if the first page is full you can scroll right and there is even more room there.
I'm a bookmark junkie so I find that this is a much easier way to be able to find and get to quickly all the sites that are really important/ ones I visit multiple times a day. That way I have the ones I need easily accessible and the rest of the sites I like/ need to visit, but only on occasion (or things I'm researching for school projects) I can keep in my giant bookmark list.
I hope all of that made sense... I'm not very technologically savvy.

Today my in-laws drove over to check on my husband as well as drop off his chess table and grandfather's chair. I didn't expect them to take anything when they went, but it looks like my mother-in-law is really serious about having that sale and decided to not only take all of my brother-in-laws things (that he left when he moved out) but offered to take anything else I didn't want/ wanted to sell. My house is now free of Garrett's stuff, down one vacuum, down 4 bag's of (what was to be donated) clothes, and a beautiful metal and glass shelving unit. It was a huge piece that I absolutely loved and jumped for joy when my Aunt gave it to me (when my husband and I first got married she gave this piece to us along with a view smaller items and our bed and frame). My husband was never a huge fan, but let me keep it. I am very sad to let it go (although I've been planning mentally to get rid of it for almost a year now). The first reason is we really don't have the room for it to be displayed properly (which I find really sad and spent a good 6 years trying to make room) and 2. the reality is, if I'm going to beat the hoarding I can't very well have a 7 foot high 7 glass shelve display unit in the home. Maybe someday when I have things really worth displaying but at this point it was 7 glass shelves filled with random nick nacks and junk.
I just have to keep reminding myself that it's for the best.
Best of luck to everyone on their daily endeavors!

Yes, I am buried in all my memories of her. She was such a loving and giving person and I have lots of beautiful momories.
She was only 50.
Less than a year ago she discovered she had a cancerous brain tumor that couldn't be removed.
She had just finished college classes so she could work with deaf children.
She is terribly missed.

Thanks Tillie! I will try and remember to drink fluids (remembering to eat usually isn't a problem).
The tasks are going much more slowly than I thought and I found a bunch of laundry too. :X eeek!
This board, as always, is very helpful and has kept me going. Another load if dishes done and away, 2 loads of laundry washed (not yet put away) and 5 big trash bags full of donate-able clothes. :)
I also found that when my husband said he put away all his clothes he meant all the clothes in the visible pile, not the ones stuffed in the giant box so, unless I want to add putting those clothes on the list of things to do they are just going to have to wait there (husband isn't going to be able to bend over or do too much moving around/ lifting/ stretching for at least a month) I would toss them myself but we never talked about those ones and I think he is partial to some/ there may be some smaller sizes in there he will be able to wear in a month or two. Best to let them stay until he is able to handle them himself.

Thanks tillie.:)

Yeah the dragon tattoo design was just one of my many tattoo designs that I have. When I told my friends that I didn't get the tattoo they were all like, "you're such a chicken! I can't believe you didn't get it! Are you ever going to get any of the tattoos that you want to get?" it's so weird because when I was younger I really really wanted a tattoo but now whenever I think about tattoos I get stressed out because I have so many people telling me to get my tattoos but I also have a lot of people telling me not to get my tattoos.

Wash the door mats
Vacuum the cat fur off their cat tree out there

HI Flopz :)

You sure have been busy! WTG!

Your To-Do list is really impressive.
Remember to pace yourself and take breaks as needed. Don't forget to eat and drink lots of fluids too.
If you don't get to everything on your list just pat yourself on the back for the GREAT job you did today and pick up again tomorrow. :D

I have 5 fur-ball cats and to get a handle on their shedding I ordered a "Furminator" deshedding tool from Amazon.
It works great right at the source of all that flying fur.

I decided to come on and post because although I've been up and working since 7:30 I'm starting to loose steam. I've done 2 loads of dishes and made 5 different types of Jello and started sorting through my husbands clothes bins. It looks like one bin is full of a mixture of laundry and paperwork that was just thrown together (probably to hid it because someone was coming over) so it's going to take a bit longer than I thought to do everything.
The goals for the rest of the afternoon are
1. finish the rest of the dishes (I think I have about 3 - 3.5 loads to go)
2. Finish my husbands clothes pile and prep them for donation
3. Vacuum the whole house (Ms. Molly the GSD has decided to start her shedding and it's aweful!)
4. Move the bookcase upstairs (with all the books)
5. Really scrub clean the kitchen counters (I should probably sweep and mop too but that's a lot of extra work)
I hope everyone else is having a fun and productive day :)

Hey Tillie.:) actually I ended up not getting the tattoo. My dad and my boss both talked me out of it. The day that I was supposed to get the tattoo my boss actually called me up early in the morning to tell me that he doesn't think it would be a good idea for me to get the tattoo because he thinks that I might regret getting it one day. I told my boss that I'd think about not getting it but that I would probably end up getting it. Then as I was just about to leave the house my dad stopped me at the door and also told me that he doesn't think it is a good idea for me to get the tattoo because he also thinks I'll regret getting it eventually. So I decided not to get the tattoo. When I came home and told my dad that I didn't get the tattoo he gave me a huge hug and told me that I made a good decision not to get it. And when I told my boss that I didn't get it he was also really happy. My boss has a lot of tattoos and he says that he regrets getting most of them. I still have the tattoo design though. The tattoo was going to be really big. If I got the tattoo it would have covered up most of my upper leg.

Then after that I'm going to go take my friend's younger sister to the mall so that she can go shopping for back to school clothes; even though my friend is not talking to me right now I'm still really close with her family. No rest for the weary! My weekend off includes going to the feed store to buy food and hay for the animals. We will be clenaing out the chicken coop, laying down fresh shavings, and putting out hay for the goats. Then we are pulling out almost all the plants from our garden. We have (2) garden beds consisting of 32 plants each and the summer heat has taken its toll on them. Time to clean it out and wait a month before replanting. Clean off the deck, and then wash the cars! Busy weekend, but feeling productive can only come with seeing progress. Have a great weekend Tillie!
