Good morning :)
My To-Do list for today is very short. Take care of daily cat needs Work on my quilt Think of something to cook Then clean up the kitchen
Woke up to a light rain this morning. :D We have been in drought conditions for too long now and hope that this signals the end of the dry season. On rainy days my favorite thing to do is bake cookies. So, I have all the ingredients for soft molasses cookies in the pantry. :D
Have a great day!

MayMay, I think you are going to really enjoy the new season. I won't be next Monday, but Matt and Dorothy will be with Dr. Zasio and Dr. Green and it is a great episode! I will be on the following week and I love the guy I was sent to help. Stay tuned for some really moving episodes that I hope will motivate others :)

Fantastic job!
Really, in the long run, it doesn't matter where most of the stuff goes just so long as it gets out of the home and frees up space.
Keep up the good work. :)

"How come, no matter how much I do, it never seems good enough?"
This happens when the dialogue in our heads is giving us negative feedback. We hear critical comments about our performances. These are usually things we heard as a child from a parent or teacher and things we hear/heard from negative/critical "friends" or spouses.
What we need to do is change that inner dialogue to positive reinforcements. It takes time but you can learn to tune out that negaitve and replace it yourself.
Say "I did a good job cleaning today". "I am a good person". "I deserve to have a clean, safe home".
Tell yourself any positive compliments you think fit the situation and drown out all and any negativity.
(((hugs))) Tillie

@MayMay - I get it (I think) - you named your dogs Matt and Cory?

@Petrina - Wow, eight bags is a lot of stuff :) Go Petrina! Yes, the third floor thing would upset me, too. But you did it!
Sorry about the letter :( Tears are both cleansing and temporary. The more internal stuff you declutter, the more this external decluttering is going to work! :)
You wrote, in part, "How come, no matter how much I do, it never seems good enough?" <==I don't understand. I think you are doing a wonderful job. Is this (never seems good enough) how you feel or did someone say something to you?

@MayMay - the closet was my child's "disaster zone" - not mine. I had the day off, and decided to check closets & was not happy. Bet the kids are praying I don't have another three-day weekend anytime soon :)

Tossed 8 garbage bags, a space heater, a joy stick circa 2000, and a weight-lifting belt (for the poor garbage man). Six trips. I hate living on the third floor.
Came across a love letter from the ex-husband. I shut down for about an hour. Had a good cry. Had some lunch, and went on with the rest of my day.
How come, no matter how much I do, it never seems good enough?

Hey Sheryl. :)
I went to Michigan for a few days to visit with some relatives and I couldn't take Matt and Cory with, so they had to stay at the kennel.
I was really messy when I was younger. Except my mess was all over my room. I always left my clothes and toys on the floor. Sometimes my dad would go in and clean my room when I wasn't around and then when I would get home he would always give me a lecture about keeping my room clean. I always hated when he did that because when I went to look for something I could never find it.
Great job with finding stuff to donate. :) I've always liked cleaning out my closet and finding stuff to donate. Even when I was a little kid I liked it. :)

Arm-twisting progress: got child to give up five more books! The deal is, for every five books off the shelf and downloaded into the Nook, one new book can also be downloaded.
5 off the shelf (out the door, in the car) 5 downloaded into Nook 1 new book downloaded into Nook

Why were Matt and Cory in the Kennel?
Anyway, hoard alert! Found hoard in bottom of child's closet. Shoes piled on top of clothing and ... ugh!
We just had one of those, "Why is that on the floor of closet?" chats :) Closet has been recovered. Floor found and vacuumed. Stuff put where it belongs. All dresser drawers were emptied and the stuff "folded" and put with like clothing items.
A huge pile for donations sits at the front door.

Hey Tillie. :) yeah Matt and Cory are definitely glad to be home. When I went to pick them up they were really excited to see me. The lady at the kenal told me that they did really well there. She actually told me that when they were in the play area playing with their toys they would actually put their toys away once they were done playing with them. I laughed and told her that I taught them to do that but I wasn't sure if they would do it while they were at the kenal because normally when they put their toys away at home I always give them a treat right after they do it.

MayMay, I am sure that Matt & Cory did fine in the kennel but are sure happy to be home again.
My To-Do list for today... I slept in :D Going to hem my new pair of jeans. Do some other sewing I have around. Taking the day off from any cleaning or trying to motivate him to declutter.
Hoping everybody has a pleasant & safe holiday.

I just got back from Michigan. First thing I'm going to do is unpack. Then I'm going to go take a shower. Then around 4:00p.m. I'm going to go pick up Matt and Cory from the kenal. Yay! :) when I was in Michigan I bought a whole bunch of new dog toys for them. I felt so bad for leaving them at the kenal that I decided that they deserve some new toys. :)

Gosh Tillie I wish I had your self control! I always make lists and I always end up with far more things afterward. Nothing I can't use/ eat but still far more than I really needed. The best I can do is eat and drink lots of fluids before I shop so I don't end up buying excessive amounts of junk food or crazy amounts of beverages. I still over buy but I can usually cram everything into my fridge/ cabinets when I take the extra precautions. hmmm, I suppose that will be something else for me to work on one of these days :) Oh and thank you so much again for that crock pot recipe! Eating real food that is easy and cooks itself is a big change, but I'm liking it!

Good morning Flopz :)
Your list sounds very do-able. Good luck with it.
In a little while I am off to the grocery store. Have my list all made up. Don't need to buy much other than some fruit and vegetables for this week. Shopping with a list keeps me from temptation. ;)
Have a wonderful day everybody!

It technically isn't "today" yet but oh well. Today I will: 1. make my bed 2. hang the shelves 3. fix my softball glove 4. find a box to place all the items I will be giving over to my mother-in-law for her to sell 5. tidy up my office 6. continue working on my weekly goal 7. work on some homework
I wish everyone a wonderful and productive day :)

Good morning! :)
My To-Do list for today...
Tidy up the house, water in the yard and get ready for the 3 day weekend.
This weekend I will be trying to encourage him to concentrate on clearing one do-able area. He tends to fritter about here&there, scattered like and never completing anything. I will suggest areas to work in but he gets to decide where he will go. I will agree to him working in any area except inside his garage. In there he tends to hyper-focus on churning, slowly sorting through tiny objects. Plus he has a computer set up in there and I often find him wasting hours playing games. :(
Have a great day every body! :D

So far today I have packed my suitcase for my trip to Michigan. Me and my parents will be leaving for Michigan tomorrow afternoon to visit with some relatives. In about an hour I'm going to go drop my 2 dogs Cory and Matt, off at the kenal. I feel bad leaving them there.:( this morning while I was packing, they started getting some of their dog toys and putting them in my suitcase. It was so cute. I think they thought that they were going to go to Michigan with me.

Good morning everybody,
I understand MayMay, it bothers me too that we can't edit our posts here & fix them. ;)
My To-Do list today... water stuff outside since our humidity is only 5% things are drying out fast.
Straighten the garden tools and summer things in the tiny corner of the garage where I store them. Almost time to put them all away until next year. :( Seems like it would be a simple job but he has covered access to this area with an assorted pile about 3 feet deep and 4 feet high. Immediately after, shower/shampoo wash the clothes I was wearing.
Straighten out my linens in the closet area and drawer where they are stored.
Decide what I want to eat for supper and cook it. Clean the kitchen.
Have a great & productive day everyone! :)

Hey. :) just posting again because I just realized I made a huge typing error in my last post. In my last post I meant to say rib cage but I accidentally just said cage. I know its probably really weird and random that I wanted to clarify that error but I wouldn't be able to sleep if I didn't do it even though I'm really tired right now. It's part of my OCD. :)

Hey Tillie. :) yeah my friend's aunt also told me to think about what a tattoo might look like later on in life. She told me about how she got a tattoo of a bird right under her cage and then soon after she got the tattoo she became pregnant and the tattoo got all stretched out. She said that the tattoo use to look like a cute little bird but now it looks like big bird. lol. :)

Hi MayMay :) Thank you.
Remember that if you and only you decide with a clear & sober head to get inked it must be your decision alone and not influenced by anyone else at all.
Keep in mind that tats age and skin sags and what looks good today will look radically different some day down the road ;)
Have a great rest of today :D

Today I accidentally woke up late. Then I went to the tattoo shop with my friend and watched her get her 5th tattoo done. When she told me what she was getting she asked me if I wanted to come along with her and watch, I was like, "hell yeah!" The tattoo is amazing! She got a portrait of Johnny Depp tattooed on her arm. It's so cool! Then after that I came home and relaxed for a little bit and now I'm getting ready to go to work.:)

He has made a lot of positive progress. I think 4 steps forward and 1 step backward is pretty good still.
My To-Do list for today
I don't post it but every day of the year first thing I do every morning is feed the cats canned food, wash their dishes, fill their kibble bowls and give them fresh water (4 different bowls placed around) then I scoop their litter boxes.
Wash his laundry. When he puts his dirty clothes in his hamper I reward him by washing them. Wash cat blankets Wash rags & rugs Finish dusting Wash and cut up melon
Then I have the entire afternoon to work on my quilt while I watch movies on Netflix! :D

Tillie, I am very sorry to hear this too. I think it is more important to look at the bigger picture. A year ago, he would have bought this stuff, but wouldn't have been doing the good things too. He has come a long way, so don't let the occasional small setbacks discourage you. We really can't expect him to change over night. We know that hoarding is something people will have to learn to manage for life. He will continue to fall off once in a while, but you keep doing what you are doing with him. He is so lucky to have you in his life and I hope he continues to work on himself as he has been. You both deserve better and I think he is finally realizing that if not for himself, he must do it for you. Hang in there Tillie and know we are all here for you :)

He came home with 1000.00 worth of stuff that he only paid 230.00 for. He was very happy. I hate sales. Now we have a bunch of home & garden stuff we have no use for. And he was doing so GOOD these last few months. No dumpster diving or sale shopping. Hope to get him back on the no acquiring wagon.
