well jilly its a start at least your tryn to keep from adding more to the clutter and im glad your able to unattach yourself from certain items to reduce the clutter but keep up the good work..im still tryn not to bring any more clutter in my house but its hard ..but i stay strong and remind my self whats more important..

think i may be a hoarder too, i have for the past few months realised there is a problem and have stopped bringing things into the house :(

The task is so overwhelming, no one is on my back to get it sorted, so i could just wollow in the junk! i have started to remove 10 items from the house each day, this is all i can manage at the moment as well as keeping on top of mail etc. its slowly going down, but im sure it will take and eternity!

thanks faithann your encouragement and advice does help ..its so easy talking to someone who is going through it to. im currently tryn to get my 2 bedroom apt in order for my daughters upcoming bday sleepover,,so im in panic mode tryn to get things put away and organized its so frustrating not knowing where to begin i get so easily sidetracked and im back to square one , but i refuse to give up,, i just got to quit bringing more things inside i just gotta be able to say no... everytime i o to my moms house im bringing a carload back home and up stairs and it just piles up in my living room for days ,,,i just stare at it in disgust because im doing this to myself ..gggrrrr,,, but im not gnna give up wish me luck,,

Hi Shannon, It's good that you're recognizing you have a problem. You're lucky that you sound like you're in the beginning stages and you're aware of your behavior. Because if you feel you can't/don't want to deal with your stuff, I think is a sign that you could become a hoarder on a bigger scale. I would definitely seek help from a professional... a therapist or/and organizer, hopefully you have family and friends that can help you overcome. I'm a full-blown hoarder going through a melt-down and it is a horrible experience. So you should take immediate steps to get help in getting control of the situation. Yes, a big part of the problem is denial and avoidance--and then as things pile up, it gets to feeling more and more insurmontable. Definitely do at least one thing a day, organizing one part of your place or getting rid of something(or again get a pro to help you), it's too easy to get overwhelmed doing it all at once and maybe too much for you on your own. Hope this helps in some way.

hello my name is shannon and im a mother of 2 and i think i might be a mild hoarder slash packrat as my mom calls it. every apt ive had was clean the first few days and slowly accumulates ..i do shop alot i think i have more items coming in than going out ...and in my mind i know i need to deal with it but the ambition just is not their..i have alot of things in my mind i have room for it it just sits around in bags and boxes never getting put away,,its frustrating i cant be organized and i get overwhelmed and quit ...but since watching hoarders im more motivated to clean and organize but i try to make a dent from day to day hey its a start ..i have a fiancee who hates to live in my clutter but has somewhat grown blind to it ..but gets on me about it and i see his point i just dont like it being shoved in my face,.... any tips or advice am i a hoarder i think so i guess i just need some insight ,,,thanks
