Hi, I have never posted, but when I found this message board I thought to give this a shot. My family has a long history of hoarding, which dates back generations. In the past five years I have just begun to recognize how hoarding has impacted my life, as well as some of my cousins and siblings. A group that I am in at the University of Pittsburgh has decided to put on a community awareness event to spread the word that hoarding is all around us here in Pittsburgh, and it is a multi-generational issue. Despite the negative view current media depiction etc has given hoarding, we want people to see it's not the hoard, it's the loved ones and the person- there is a real person dealing with this and they are physical, emotional, spiritual, living people, good and bad. If anyone would be interested in creating a piece of art, poetry, sculpture, writing, photography, painting, any kind of artistic expression to add to our event, we would love to have your voice heard. Please forgive me if any of this seems disrespectful, for me I feel this is a way to help others and de-stigmatize something that I deal with every day. If you are interested, please email us: hoarding.pitt@gmail.com
