This came to me a day or two ago as I looked in dismay at my storage unit. Wondering if another decent weather season will pass me by with little accomplishment there.
That also got me thinking about clutter in the home, which I still have to deal with as well, and how people are thrown together more in these times. If the house is hoarded and people are having to squeeze by one another more, causing annoyance and friction. The issue of sanitation. Whether and how to go out safely. The temptation, perhaps to hoard supplies and food. If someone is sick, caring for them and dealing with our fears.
Whatever your concerns are, post them here and consider this a safe space. One thing to consider - if you are a hoarder and upset at the neatniks, or vice versa, let's try not to step on one another's toes. Perhaps for a specific issue create a separate thread.
Bear in mind that it's not all black and white. Some of us hoarders are working on changing, and are as frustrated with ourselves as others are with us. There may be more than one hoarder in a household, hoarding different things in different ways. Neatniks may have been raised in a hoarded home and be afraid of becoming hoarders, so they go overboard and throw things out excessively. Let's really try to understand each other and be kind even though it is difficult.
We are all preoccupied with the crisis, and we may have different perceptions about its severity, different opinions about government responses, things that could cause strife. Let's try to steer away from hot button topics and not argue. Rather, let's find common ground and encourage one another.
Remember the Serenity Prayer, that might help. Stay strong.
