Hi Susie,

No cleaning a home does not have to be finished within just a few days.

I think letting someone in to help once a week starting with just one room is a great idea. :D

Not every hoarder is able to clean out their house at the exact same pace. While some hoarders may be able to clean out their house in just a few days, it may take a little longer for others.

You should clean out your house at whatever pace makes you feel the most comfortable. :)

Does cleaning a home have to be finished within a few days? What about letting someone in to help once a week starting with just one room? Then progress from that over time?

Hi Dianne,

You'll love it here! :D

I know I do. :D

I am not a hoarder but I am an aspiring Extreme Cleaner. And I joined this board almost a year ago because I wanted to meet hoarders and people who have loved ones that are hoarders; hoping to learn a lot from them. :)

I'm a 61 year old woman and a pretty typical hoarder from what I've read. I've thought about asking for professional help but don't think I could live thru the mental and emotional pressure. To get it done in a few days like I've seen on tv would make me physically ill and devastate me mentallly. So I'm ready to really work on this problem on my own and am so thankful to have found this message board. When I get to the point where I can't physically handle some of the mess then I can ask for family help but to start it has to be me. Looking forward to reading your posts and getting/giving support. Dianne
