Thanks, Tillie! That's great to know that they recycle and donate.

Call your local 1800GOTJUNK company and ask them.
Last time I communicated with a 1800GOTJUNK man
he told me that they sort, donate, recycle and otherwise responsibly dispose of the things.

Hi, I have the same question, sort of.

I will be moving into my parents' house in a few months. They live in the Berkeley, CA area. They just moved into an assisted-living facility and I have been asked to move there and clean up their hoard. I said yes.

I'm wondering: what is the cheapest, most efficient way to get rid of stuff that might be useful to someone? Something like large, plastic garbage bins, for instance. I know there are companies like GotJunk.com but I think they just take stuff and dump it.

Any advice is welcome!

Hi Mimi!
Im sorry youre having a hard time with getting help. I know that can be a huge challenge. There are many government services for the elderly where i live. My friend found a lot of help by researching programs. Also maybe a local church or charity organization might have options for you? Maybe if you can make the decisions about what you want to toss out, and donate & keep & rearrange, etc., thatd make it easier once you have someone to physically help with it? I know it is hard & very stressful! If you want to come over to the Daily Chat, we support each other in our efforts & dilemmas, and you mught find that helpful, too? All the best to you! :D

I need help to go through things and rid to give away or throw away and sell some things to help me get some dollars to pay for bills etc. I really dont have any close friends as i dont have anyone over.

What agencies could help. I did call a therapist who specializes in it but she only took one kind of insurance. I am done, Ive had it...but need help to move things and pick things up. I can hardly do anything anymore. Thank you.
