I think the first step would be to figure out if your dad realizes there is a problem.

Is he on board with the move to senior living? Or just considering it but it's not his idea? That will make a big difference.

I am new to this site, my dad is a senior who lost his wife 3 years ago, and uses buying online to treat his grief. But also over buys food, and doesn't throw rotting food out. His house has reaching hoarding status, and in the past wouldn't let my sister and I help. The current condition is unsafe for him.

Now he is considering moving into a senior living apartment. But, that will take months to get him there. My aunt went to help him with boxes and she saw the condition of his house and threw out just food garbage.

I just don't know where to start.
