Hi :) My posts showed up again. Funny site this is. Don't they know we tend to get anxiety over things going missing? lol

Still learning to let go...

Thank you Tillie :) it's funny, I tried posting with the name I used before and it wouldn't let me. It did with this name. My posts did get posted and were on for the day, then were gone the next.

I feel like I was kicked out before I even got started. I made two posts. One was a new topic and one was a reply. I happened to be positive in both of them. What are the rules for posting in here and which ones did I break? My passion is to help others get out of where I was. I'd love to be able to help others who are still in the pit. Is that alright or is that not allowed in here?

Hi CoralRN :)
The best way to start is by doing small amounts daily.
Work at something for 5, 10 or 15 minutes daily.
Pick a small area, a corner of a room or a drawer, shelf or cupboard.
Doing something, anything daily will eventually begin to show progress.
With your hurt ankle find something that you can do while sitting, like sorting papers.
While you are waiting for the coffee to brew wash a few dishes or empty the dish washer.
We call this "taking baby steps" but these small tasks really do add up.

Best wishes :)

I stumbled on this site after doing a search on hoarding. I initially saw images of the classifications of hoarding and decided that I should probably start helping myself/our family. I am married to my husband, have two school-age children, and one dog. We live in a single family home. My husband and I have always had too much stuff. We have moved several times so have cleared out periodically but we always accumulated more stuff. We have had financial problems. My husband clearly has, although undiagnosed, ADD/depression/anxiety. He has chosen to jump from job to job which has had an impact on our financial well-being. He also moves furniture around every so often to make the house look better but it doesn't get to the root of the problem. I tend to hold onto things that I think may be useful. He tends to buy things. For example he may buy something we already own because it's a good price or he just really likes it. I am really embarrassed to have people over before "preparing". I recently broke my ankle and needed my mom's help and so she saw what a disaster our dining room was (our basement is the worst and she didn't even see that). I really want to tackle this. I am out of work right now due to my ankle but I normally work full time and am busy with my kids' sports. How do you start/finish with so many other things to balance? Thanks!
